1995: Many feared dead in Oklahoma bombing
A huge car bomb has exploded at a government building in Oklahoma City killing at least 80 people including 17 children at a nursery.
At least 100 people have been injured and the number of dead is expected to rise.
In an emotional speech, President Bill Clinton vowed "swift, certain and severe" punishment for those behind the atrocity.
"The United States will not tolerate and I will not allow the people of this country to be intimidated by evil cowards," he told a White House news conference this evening.
Trapped in the rubble
The blast happened just after 0900 local time when most workers were in their offices. It destroyed the facade of the ten-storey Alfred Murrah Building.
One survivor said he thought there was an earthquake: "I never heard anything that loud. It was a horrible noise...the roar of the whole building crumbling,"
There were scenes of chaos as paramedics treated the wounded on the pavement and rescue workers battled to dig out those still trapped in the rubble.
The building housed a children's nursery on the second floor as well as social security, customs, agriculture and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
Some federal agents noted that the ATF mounted the operation two years ago today which ended the siege of David Koresh's Branch Davidian cult in Waco, Texas. However members of the cult commemorating the siege have angrily denied any connection.
The State Department would not discuss the possibility of this being a terrorist attack but the FBI and Oklahoma police put out an alert for three men believed to be of Middle Eastern origin driving a brown Chevrolet pick-up truck.
Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman and ten of his supporters are currently on trial for the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.
Government buildings in Washington and all over the US have been put on high alert. Federal offices in Wilmington, Boston and Rochester were evacuated after bomb scares.

He was executed at the Federal prison in Indiana. I am sure there were vigils; for both sides.

The Oklahoma bombing was according to the bomber, in retaliation for an event I can recall exactly what I was doing when it took place.
I watched a live feed, showing uniformed officers following the orders of Clinton's attorney general, burning innocent women and children alive.
Talk about crimes against humanity.

Looking back at all of the subtle signs, it was obvious that God was preparing my mom, myself, and our family for this event, and it gave us great comfort to know that it was His will. Plus, the lives that were changed positively (mine included), are a daily testament to my mom and what she believed.
This was a simple terrorist attack by a coward. Muslim or American, it doesn't matter. A terrorist coward is a terrorist coward and a monster.

in high school, discussing with my gov't teacher whether or not this was payback for waco. it was the 2 year anniversary of when the fbi burned down the BD complex.
In an airshaft in a Harlem apt. building digging down through 4' of garbage and Pampers to get at a telephone box that was 5' off the ground!
I was sitting down at work when I heard the news. I was in Houston, but had lived in OKC before, had a lot of family in the area and had a cousin who was an interpreter for the deaf in Oklahoma City get knocked on her butt in another building nearby when the explosion happened. Another cousin had planned to go to SS that day, but had run late, praise God.
I didn't get much work done that day.
Well, I was doing some housework and flipping through the channels when I first saw the news.
And I will never forget in the day that followed the ill-guided and short-sighted finger pointing at all of the dissidents and political opponents of the then Clinton Administration for these awful events.
As I mentioned the other day in one of my other blogs The Clinton Administration had been engaging in what FBI whistleblower Gary Aldrich called "very self-serving paranoia." They decided that everything that was negative to the Democrats and everyone who wrote and/or spoke negatively of the Democratic Party was a threat to National Security.
And guess what, folks. That's how the Democrats still feel today.
Up until the awful events of 9/11, all of the focus in the war on Terrorism was on the dissidents and political opponents of the Clinton Adminstration. Things have changed now. Now the focus is on Islamic fundamentalists.
I can tell you that had it not been for the blatant and deliberate missuse of the FBI and it's powers by the Clinton Administration. We would not have had 9/11.
Thnankfully our current administration has changed the focus in the War on Terror and is now focusing on those who pose the real threats to this country, Islamic Fundamentalists.
We are in a battle as christians and conservatives for the right to be able to address issues of public importance without being branded as terrorists bsimply because what we say or write offends liberals, progressives or moderates.
As I mentioned before the state of Virginia has a pamphlet out for goverment employees which labels property rights activists as terrorists. The govenor of the state of Virginia is a Democrat so it's very obvious how misguided this state's focus is. I definitely do not recommend traveling to that state for a vacation.
Will the focus in the War on Terror continue to be on Islamic Fundamentalists or will it shift to dissidents and political opponents of the Democrats and the Clinton Administration? It will all depend on what happens in November.
I will say this. If the Democrats win both houses of Congress and Especially if we ger a President Hillary or even a President McCain in 2088, we all had better watch our bkacs.

I remember Bailey too, and Edie's two little boys. I was happy to see later that she started a new family but I don't know how she made it through those days. I remember her being very outspoken against the government and a coverup to the point of threats being made against her....
I was beginning a cross-country move in a Ryder truck, and the following couple of days got many suspicious stares aimed at me and my young son whenever we stopped anywhere.
