Heather Mercer spoke at our church recently. May the Lord bless her boldness and courage and protect her as she continues to minister in the region. In Jesus Christ's name.

Well, ok, I thought I may have had a senile moment.
"May the Lord bless her boldness and courage and protect her as she continues to minister in the region. In Jesus Christ's name."
Amen.
Hi SmartA. Sorry I haven't been on as much the past couple of days and get snowed under with all the pings and mail. I'll never get to all the pings so be aware, lol!
Don't sweat the small things, or worry about responding. The threads are alive and jumping out at us. News is coming at us to fast to absorb. I'm starting to take eye strain, and computer breaks more often.
I hate this kind of action though. We're much, much better at beating up on the democrats, than ourselves. But when your own need a whooping, you don't become a mushroom in a dank cellar.
LOL, you too are becoming more 'wordy'. You're right, there is so much going on that it's hard to keep up.

Bakri fatwa slams multiculturalism

Efforts at interfaith dialogue amount to an evil plot against Muslims, according to the militant Islamic cleric Omar Bakri Mohammad.
The comments are contained in a published extract from a new book by Bakri, who fled from the UK to Lebanon after the July London bombings.
The leader of the radical Al-Muhajiroun network, says: "Interfaith is one of the biggest conspiracies and plots against Islam and the Muslims. The Jews and the Christians forsake their disputes and differences and gather on common ground, which is their hatred and animosity towards Islam.
"It is not allowed to join its organisation, participate in its activities or attribute oneself to its activities or seminars or any type of interfaith gathering.
"Verily, jihad against the Kuffaar [non-Muslims], the enemies of Allah, puts fear in their hearts and terrifies them; this will give Islam victory, humiliate its enemy and put happiness into the hearts of believers

We use the audubon regional field guide - it covers the flora and fauna and all the creepy crawlies...and we always take it along...it's dog eared. We also use Peterson's Eastern Birds alot. The Golden Guides are great but they usuallyjust float around for quick reading from room to room (along with the bug barn guests.) I really like the geology one.

Three Las Vegas residents charged with marriage fraud
LAS VEGAS -- Three Las Vegas area residents have been indicted by a federal grand jury for their involvement in a marriage fraud scheme following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Moustapha Moustapha, 35, his former wife Ghada Aly, 32, and Beverly May Senior, 47, are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit marriage fraud and make false statements. In addition, Moustapha and Senior are also charged with one count of marriage fraud, one count of making a false application, and two counts of making false statements and representation. ICE agents arrested the three defendants earlier this week.
According to the indictment, in August 2001, Moustapha lawfully entered the United States from Egypt on a non-immigrant student visa to study chemistry. Records show his wife legally entered the United States in August the following year based on her marriage to Moustapha.
ICE investigators say the couples long-term goal was to obtain Moustapha permanent legal status in the United States, so he could petition for Aly to remain in the country as well. With that in mind, Moustapha and Aly divorced in Clark County last year. Soon afterwards, Moustapha and Aly, through a third party, approached Senior, who is a legal permanent resident of the United States, to see if she would marry Moustapha. In July 2005, Moustapha and Senior entered into a sham marriage in Clark County, Nevada.
Two months later, Moustapha and Senior filed immigration forms stating that they had married, knowing that they did not intend to establish a life together as husband and wife. In February 2006, Moustapha and Senior were interviewed by an officer with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. During the interview, the pair presented additional information and photographs seeking to establish the validity of their sham marriage.
"Persons who make false statements in immigration forms and to federal authorities risk investigation and prosecution," said U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Bogden. "Although it is clear that many persons do so for economic or social reasons, rather than to commit violent acts, this sort of conduct violates federal law and will not be tolerated."
"Visa fraud undermines the integrity of our nations legal immigration system," said Tom Kalmes, acting resident agent in charge of ICE's office of investigations in Las Vegas. "These indictments should send a clear message that if you commit marriage fraud, there won't be a honeymoon. ICE is working aggressively to ensure that this kind of criminal activity does not go unchecked or unpunished."
All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges. Senior was released on a personal recognizance bond; Moustapha and Aly were detained pending trial based on a risk of flight.
If convicted, the defendants face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the conspiracy charge. Moustapha and Senior also face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the marriage fraud and false statement counts, and up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the false application count.

Homeland Security Agencies Arrest Two Men, Seize 46-foot Alien-Smuggling Yacht
Brownsville, Texas Two men from Brownsville face federal criminal charges today after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested them over the weekend for their role in smuggling six Mexican nationals by boat to Corpus Christi, Texas.
According to the ICE report, the six men were first smuggled into the United States from Mexico in McAllen, Texas. Then they were transported to South Padre Island, Texas. The yacht named Poca Mas left the Sea Ranch Marina in South Padre Island early Sunday morning. Shortly after lunch the yacht arrived in Corpus Christi, Texas, ICE agents arrested the two boat operators and the six smuggled illegal aliens, and seized the yacht.
The owner of the yacht, Mack Daniel Bryant, and deckhand operator Baldemar Valadez Jr., made their initial appearances in federal court this morning to face charges in connection with the alleged alien-smuggling plot, which included picking up the migrants at South Padre Island on Sunday then transporting them to Corpus Christi.
This case shows how desperate alien smugglers are in their attempt to circumvent immigration law by using a luxurious yacht to disguise the illegal activity taking place, said Alonzo Pena, special agent-in-charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in San Antonio. Using a yacht to smuggle aliens does not diminish the risks to the aliens being smuggled. Alien smugglers routinely demonstrate how little regard they have for their human cargo.
The migrants told ICE agents they paid $1,500 each in smuggling fees. Of the six aliens arrested for entering the country without inspection, three of them will remain in the United States as material witness in the criminal case.
ICE agents in Brownsville and Corpus Christi were assisted by: the U.S. Coast Guard South Padre Island, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Units in Brownsville and Houston, and the Corpus Christi Police Department. ICE, the Coast Guard and CBP are all agencies under the Department of Homeland Security.
ICE agents warn that smuggling organizations may exploit legitimate businesses to accomplish their illegal smuggling activities. The public can report suspicious activity to ICEs toll free hotline at 1-866-DHS-2ICE.
