Night of the Lepus.
Hands down most idiotic, lame piece of celluloid ever.
What did you think of the latest version P&P ?
I liked K. Knightley in Doctor Zhivago but thought she was miscast in P&P. The only thing that I kind of liked was that the people of that little town probably wouldn't have dressed as lavishly as they do in most productions. I think they did an okay job of condensing it into two hours or so, I suppose, but generally I didn't like it much.
The only thing I hated was the schmaltzy, romanticized ending. In the first place, Elizabeth would not have been parading outside in her nightgown. Then, Darcy would not just drop by in the middle of the night. And the chance that both of these would happen and that they would meet up for a love fest is zilch. Furthermore, if she did see him coming, she would have run the other way--she had on her nightgown for petesake.
The only severe criticism I have is this: Judy Dench could have been a terrific Lady Catherine, but her best lines were cut out.
I still can't get past the Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle/Simon Langton dynamite production. I can't imagine a better Elizabeth and Darcy! To me, it's like imagining Gone with the Wind with somebody other than Clark Gable, Vivienne Leigh, etc., or imagining somebody other than Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan.
So what do you think?
Pride and Prejudice and Moby Dick are probably my two favorite novels! I love 'em. I can reread both over and over and over.
Note tagline for another of my favorite literary works.
What about you?
OK, we may have to go private on this least we bore the troops to death.
Over the years I have learned to appreciate that even the most horrible film you can imagine has a pearl in it. By nature I'm a pearl diver.
Having seen Sense & Sensibility & You've Got Mail so many times, (P&P has itself become an allegory)and having remembered that scene in Love Actually, where Knightley watches her wedding tape in her husband's best friend's studio, I decided maybe this latest version might be enjoyable. I was right.
Two weeks ago,Netflix delivered the disk. I watched it 4 times over the weekend before I sent it back. Two hours after I dropped it off at the post office, I had what can only be described as returners remorse.
I felt like I had just made a huge mistake. I returned home and re-requested the selection which arrived last Thursday. I've since watched it an additional 5 times. This is insane behavior....I've seen a zillion films, some I have watched several times over the years, but since I have never behaved this way before, I have spent a lot of time asking my self "Why"?
I think I have the answer.
Tet, you've got to tell me why. ~S
I wondered what all the fuss was about way back when. I read them all. Later I fell asleep at both of the movies when they came out. The third is on everyday here it seems on Comcast Cable.
Go get "BORED of the Rings", you want be able to put it down. Trust me.
Ok, but right now I have to go see the Mac genius.
I'm going to be on the edge of my seat until you get back. ~S
...playing a corpse...? I don't, maybe deadpan a lot...
NAtural Born Killers was awful. It was a natural born disaster.
