Friends, it is Thursday night and I just finished watching the news broadcast of AZTECA AMERICA on cable channel 9. This broadcast is out of Los Angeles and the mother company is out of Mexico. They only communicate with their viewers in Spanish. I can understand every broadcast because I am bilingual.
Here are the highlights:
1.) The hosts and the activists interviewed are planning a national labor boycott on May 1st. The recent massive national rallies have motivated these activists to force an economic shutdown of our country. Alejandro Murrieta said the following in an interview, We want total amnesty!! We will use economic pressure to accomplish this goal. Nothing less. No guest worker program- only full amnesty!
2.) Univision, based in Los Angeles, sent an e-mail to its assorted radio and station managers warning them not to incite massive rallies on May 1st. AZTECA and Univision are fierce competitors for the Spanish speaking audience in the United State. What is the point? Azteca America is rallying their viewers for a national labor boycott on May 1st.
3.) Viewers were encouraged not to go to school or work. Over and over, they claimed if we do not speak out, we will not advance.
Commentary and questions to ponder:
How is this debate improved by intentionally inflicting a form of economic terrorism against the citizens of the United States through mass rallies?
We are reaching a point where the extreme elements, on both sides of this issue, could plunge us into a civil war grounded in massive civil disobedience.
The American Labor movement and the Democrats are intentionally turning this into a race issue by inciting the Hispanic immigrant community against them.
On border security issues, President George W. Bush has no spine. He has failed us over and over again as this mass exodus from Mexico and South America continues. We are to blame for allowing this immigration problem to continue.
It is our party that has not dealt with border security since 9/11 since we are so divided on this issue. We run the show in Washington. It is that simple.
It is now time for real leadership. Step up and get something accomplished. Protect our borders and enforce our laws. This is the time to act.
President Bush vowed to protect this nation and it is now time to hold him accountable.
Cool, saving all my shopping for May 1st. The parking lot will be empty and there won't be all those little illegals running down the aisles and jabbering non-stop.
May 1 is a perfect day for all communist and communist sympathizes to get together
I do believe that is the organizers' point...
They want a boycott, I got one for them:
How about if not one single non-latino patronized a Mexican restaurant or other Mexi business on the 5th of May?
"Cinco de Mayo"?
How about boycott both days.
Uno de Mayo, May 1st.
Cinco de Mayo, May 5th.
One of the main leaders of the May 1st boycott is Nativo Lopez. He is trouble and has claimed the unions have agreed to back the boycott. However, that was his words before Lou Dobbs and CNN reported this boycott to the port authorites and port security.
I don't believe the Unions would do such a thing that would be so blatantly un-American. If so, they will be only cutting their own throats...After all, Illegals don't pay stinkin' Union Dues... "
Yeah, that's what I thought too. So I asked a teamster why my local 'amnesty' for illegals rally was backed by a group called that is part of AFL/CIO. His answer was..... as soon as those illegals are made legal and become union members, they WILL be paying union dues AND voting democratic. In the meantime, it's solidarity with the 'future' union members/democrats.
"Mexican is not a 'race'. Mexicans are anglo".
"ANGLO"!?!?!?!??!?!?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo !!!!!!
:-)
War? What war are you talking about?
How nice of them. I get my refund from George W. Bush through my income tax that week. So I save the purchases I was going to make until that day. We got along without them before, we can get along without them now. If they do this and we don't stand now ,what will we do if they decide to cause more trouble?Stand now, not later ,later is too late. May 1st will now be known as American big purchases day. Every American citizen, get out and buy, buy , buy..
"Maybe American citizens who WANT a wall built and who are AGAINST Amnesty in any way, shape or form should take June 1st off from work.
"
Well, I want those things, but I run my own business. If I don't work, I don't eat. Thanks, but I'll pass.
Buy, maybe not at a business that is playing both sides like Walmart obviously is.
MEMO to the illegal invaders and their leaders,
NO AMNESTY!!!
There is certainly a dangerous group based on the La Raza socialist movement but my sense is they are about as dangerous as the White Power folks.
Unfortunatly, the 'White Power' people are using this as a rallying point to get new membership. These idiots have been waiting years for this sort of issue to pop up.
The war to throw the illegal immigrants out of our country before they take it away from us completely. Our government certainly isn't going to save us from being over run.
"The war to throw the illegal immigrants out of our country before they take it away from us completely. Our government certainly isn't going to save us from being over run."
Wars are conducted by governments, not by groups of individual citizens. You aren't talking about a war here...not really.
Here's the deal: any ragtag civilian group that starts shooting at those they think are "illegal" are going to find themselves in a world of pain. I'm opposed to any sort of amnesty, too. I want the borders secured. I'd like to see all illegals deported, although I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen.
Here's the rest of the deal: Ragtag civilian groups wandering the streets armed are not going to be tolerated. We're not going to have that kind of "war" in this country. It's not going to happen.

But a April 9 post from Jim DeMaegt ("Civil Rights and Labor Law Attorney") on Yahoo group "Truckers Unite!" said Miguel Lopez refused to call for the port truckers to support the May Day Boycott and General Strike.
A more recent message (April 15) says Line Drivers agreed to go out on strike.
