I used to support a repeal of the 17th but now I'm not so sure. Prior to the 17th Senators tried to shovel pork to the states. You'd get logrolling following that dynamic also.
I think term limits make more sense. One and done.
I couldn't agree more. Service in congress either as a member of the house (3 terms max) or as senator (1 term) should serve only as resume fodder for your life in the regular world the rest of us live in. It should only be a bullitt point on the resume, e.g. *Served as Senator from NY 2000-2006.
