As usual, negative stories about Mother Sheehan are only to be found in the local papers. This one is from her erstwhile home town (for a few years, anyway) the Vacaville Reporter:
Sheehan Refuted
Director rebuts 'Peace Mom's' story
By Julie Kay/Staff Writer
A Vacaville funeral home owner took exception to "Peace Mom" Cindy Sheehan's allegation that his mortuary did not fulfill its duties after her son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004.
In her blog last week, Sheehan wrote that the mortuary had refused to pay the cemetery as it was supposed to. Steve Nadeau, the mortuary's owner, said Monday that not only did he properly pay the cemetery, but that he subsidized the process with his own money.
Nadeau read Sheehan's comments in The Reporter Sunday, in a story about Sheehan's defense of her decision not to put a headstone on Casey's grave. Sheehan had described her choice at length in the same blog entry that mentioned Nadeau's Funeral Home.
The Reporter called Nadeau Friday and left a message at his office seeking his comments.
Nadeau returned the call and left a message saying he would be unavailable until Monday.
In an e-mail sent to The Reporter Sunday, Nadeau expressed hurt and disbelief at Sheehan's comments. He said that the amount of money the military gave the mortuary for Casey's funeral service and cemetery arrangements didn't even come close to covering the costs.
"Several kind citizens made donations," said Nadeau. "I absorbed the rest."
This was not the only way in which he went above and beyond his responsibilities following Casey's death, said Nadeau. He also provided a stretch limousine and a driver at his expense, he said, and invited the family to go to the airport with him so that he could accompany them. None of this was required, said Nadeau.
"Having known the Sheehan family for many years through St. Mary's Catholic Church where Ms. Sheehan had previously been the youth director, it was my desire to provide care and dignity to Casey and the family. I did this in every respect."
Nadeau also refuted Sheehan's statement that the mortuary finally paid the cemetery only after the family threatened to bring the story to the media.
"This never happened," said Nadeau. "I would stop by the family home as I do most families' homes and check with them on necessary needs, etc."
Nadeau said the military provided his mortuary $5,736 in funding to pay for the funeral service and cemetery arrangements. The funding came in May 2004, said Nadeau, and he paid the cemetery as soon as the costs had been totaled and the donations received.
In a phone call Monday, Sheehan stood by her allegations. Sheehan also said that Casey's grave site was now being handled by her soon-to-be ex-husband Patrick.
Patrick Sheehan said Monday that the small plaque currently marking Casey's grave is something all graves receive before a headstone is constructed. Casey's headstone is in the works, he said, and is being built by a local monument company.
Isn't it beautiful? The community and Mr. Nadeau covered much of Mother Sheehan's expenses, and she still has to trash them and lie about them.
Army Maj. Gen. Rodney Kobayashi presents the Purple Heart and Bronze Star to Cindy Sheehan Tuesday, April 13, 2004, during a funeral service for her son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan 24, in Vacaville, Calif.
No, she isn't crazy.
Not much.
Actually he was on his second enlistment, despite the fairy tale that he was duped.
"Wasn't she yammering last year that she was using her sons death benefits to be in Crawford? Then we found out that Moore, Kerry and Soros were supporting her?"
She was certainly using his death benefits. But, yes, she and some of the rest of her family and friends have received money from Soros (for their "Real Voices" agit-prop campaign).
She probably has been given money from Moore and possibly even Kerry. But I've never seen it documented. She is very close to Moore and probably got the idea of stalking Bush from him.
But she is very well set now, with her ties to the money machine that is Code Pink, which work as her booking agent.
And of course she got money from the Communist Dictator Hugo Chavez.
Hell, she probably even got some skim off of the VFP's "Katrina Relief" scam, which she promoted. (They collected God knows how much money, at least several hundred thousand, and spent next to nothing on helping Katrina victims.)
Money is the least of Mother Sheehan's problems.
I could help her with that...but I won't. This is one case where I'd be happy to go back over to the dark side and help the IRS pluck this Stinking Traitor Bird.
thanks alot ! ...now I have coffee all over my keboard & monitor...
I thought her daughter came forward and said they were recruited by Kerry during his campaign? Then they were handed off to Moore?
"The places where she is speaking are not the ones with the fat back accounts. And you can bet she is the Code Pink number one gravy train right now. I don't think there is much money left over. The $30,000 per speaking engagement is probably a fantasy amount."
You don't know what you are talking about.
$30,000 is not a high fee for an A List speaker, and Mother Sheehan is a hot commodity in leftwing circles.
Hell, even tiny state university ponied up $11,000 for her to speak:

Even Kos couldn't afford her for their convention, and had to try to get some eBayer to pay for her to speak for them:

If you think she isn't making a fortune off of this (and that isn't part of her motivation) you are misinformed.
"I thought her daughter came forward and said they were recruited by Kerry during his campaign?"
No, one or two posters here claimed that was the case, but they never substantiated their claims.
It's possible. But it's not be documented.
My Grandfather died last November... He always said nothing fancy, just put me in a pine box... obviously we went with a little more than that, but spent $8000 on the funeral not including a headstone... Might have been able to cut $1000 out of that but not much more, I was shocked at how much a funeral costs now days.
amazing (and frightening) that she was youth director at their church ... one can only hope and pray that that was BEFORE she lost her mind
What do you expect from a communist liar? The truth?
" We, in Vacaville, know the family, knew Casey and know of the difficulties the Sheehans had before and after Casey's death.
We knew of the John Kerry campaign coming out to visit them just after it occurred, as they tried to do with many other families. We knew of the referral to the Fenton Communications agency. Most of us know how she has been used. "
snip
"Most frustrating are the times in which Casey died. In March of that year, John Kerry stood up for Al Sadr, the Muslim Cleric who called in his newspaper for the deaths of U.S. troops. Kerry stated in public radio that Al Sadr had a legitimate voice (to call for the deaths of American soldiers in Iraq) and that the military should not have shut down his newspaper. It was Al Sadr's people who killed Casey Sheehan. It was John Kerry who approached her and used her after that occurred. None of us can understand why Cindy Sheehan would embrace someone after that occurred."
They just come with perks.
Do you really think that she is shrewd enough to husband all the dough that she's made working for Code Pink, et al.?
Do you think Medea Benjamin doesn't get the lion's share of the loot?
Yes, I remember those posts. I wish that poster, Mom of Two Soldiers, would produce some documentation. Or find a way to substantiate that claim.
And I'm not doubting it. But it won't ever go anywhere without more tangible proof.
Concur. The anti-war groups have keppt her in the anger stage of grieving. The crowds want to see the "Angry Mom" act and they reward that with applause, money, etc. It's not healthy and I had two nurses with the right qualifications speak to me about the same thing. Both were concerned for her safety when she's jettisoned by Code Pink/VFP/MFSO.
