Technically Speaking, Most of Us are Disadvantaged

The argument liberals use most often to justify socialist programs is that they want to help those who are disadvantaged. And it's important to remember that this refers to their definition of "disadvantaged" - a specific criteria they've determined to explain why a certain person or group of people is unable to enjoy the same right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as the majority. These individuals are in need of special federally mandated privileges to make up for this embedded shortcoming and wipe away hundreds of years of unfairness. And as far as I'm concerned, there is still a lot of work to do. Indeed, they are keeping millions of "disadvantaged" people from realizing the American dream.

I don't know about "disadvantaged" but i was just telling my wife yesterday I was oppressed. She must not have had a good answer because she mumbled so I couldn't really understand her. :)

I, personally, am hideously nearsighted, and therefore disadvantaged. What can the taxpayers do for me?

"This pension for social correction. . . ."

I think the author meant "penchant." Mistakes like this make an entire essay less attractive. Certainly, they make the writer seem educationally disadvantaged.

Another factor in the liberal agenda is elitism. They believe that these poor disadvantaged people, not to mention the majority of the rest of us are just too incompetent to manage our own affairs, and that government should wipe every tear and most of the fannies. That's why they push their nanny state agenda, because the vast unwashed don't know what's good for them.

Either you read that wrong or it's been corrected.

An astonishingly blunt criticism of the entitlement mentality, especially considering the source. IMO it reads like something right out of National Review.

I wonder how many minutes it'd last as a post in the DUmp.

He read it correctly. As I wrote to MSSC6644, I am the only editor for this site. And I usually have to edit content while I'm at work. I'm usually pretty good. But sometimes, things slip by.

I didn't know it was mathmatically possible for everyone to be below average. Could this be the breakthrough that could lead to faster-than-light travel?

Maybe by "pension for social correction" he's talking about Social Security.

I have to wear arch supports. I'd like my pension now, please. Plus, when I was little, my brothers and sisters would pick on me. I feel the need to be special by obtaining some federal payola.
