Bishop Sheen was one of the first Catholic leaders I was exposed to as an impressionable kid. He stirred my curiosity about converting. [Of course, when I read the small print, I changed my mind!]

I'm not Catholic, but I had profound respect for Bishop Sheen. His love for Jesus was very obvious.

"when I read the small print I changed my mind" is so funny. There used to be saying that it was easier to live as a Protestant but easier to die a Catholic. The small print is what the thoughtful person reads before making a commitment. Bishop Sheen had all of my Protestant friends enthralled as he stimulated them intellectually and with humor. They didn't convert but then that was not the objective of the Sheen program. He wanted to win souls for Christ, and did his best to give his viewers a reason to become Christians.
