"The money the illegals are sending "home" to Mexico will be the biggest income producer for Mexico in 2006."If we really wanted to get rid of illegals, we'd simply make it tough to wire money to Mexico.
The number of illegals here would dry up overnight, AND Vicente Fox would start showing a little respect.
A little groveling would do that ex-Coca-Cola salesman a world of good!

Gee, does that mean that my signed picture might be next?
FOXFANVOX keeps rubbing it in my face that he has a signed picture, and I don't. Can we quiet him soon?

Ali....One thing I've noticed, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) is often referred to for, apparently, reliable information.
You might be interested in this document, The High Cost of Cheap Labor Illegal Immigration and the Federal Budget Estimated , wherein it has a table and analysis, such as:
Total Deficit Created by Illegals. If the estimated net fiscal drain of $2,736 a year that each illegal household imposes on the federal treasury is multiplied by the nearly three million illegal households, the total cost comes to $10.4 billion a year. Whether one considers this to be a large sum or not is, of course, a matter of perspective. But, this figure is unambiguously negative and certainly not trivial. It is also worth remembering that these figures are only for the federal government and do not include any costs at the state or local level, where the impact is likely to be significant.
And, quoting from the CIS study, this article:
"Study: Illegals cost U.S. $10 billion a year If Bush amnesty program were implemented, figure would triple"
The study found each illegal-alien household used $2,700 a year more in services than paid in taxes in 2002. Expenditures included Medicaid ($2.5 billion); treatment for the uninsured ($2.2 billion); food assistance programs ($1.9 billion); the federal prison and court systems ($1.6 billion); and federal aid to schools ($1.4 billion).

There is absolutely no need for some of these people to constantly impugn Tony for his opinions.
I agree, but at the same time it is important to lay out and listen to the arguments on both sides. I almost always agree with Tony on issues, but on this one I will respectfully disagree. I believe there is simply too much at stake to grant amnesty to illegals. The consequences of the 1986 amnesty were profound, and we were told the numbers would be one-million. It turned out to be 3 million applications, with 2.7 million granted. There were 398,000 cases of fraud proven. Does anyone in his right mind think any illegal is going to admit to being in the country less that 5 years?
