Take Action Today: Targeting the Way School Children View Gender

If you live in California, your help is needed today - Monday, April 17 - because a vote will be taken on SB 1437 at 2:00 in the Senate. Please read about this bill and then follow the action steps outlined below.

While you've been going to work, taking your daughter to soccer practice, or reading your grandson his favorite story, gay rights activists have been busy too. Another bill has been introduced that targets the way schoolchildren view gender and family.

Senate bill No.1437, authored by Senator Sheila Kuehl, (D-Santa Monica), will make it against the law for any instruction, textbook, or school activity to reflect adversely on homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality.

What Will It Mean?

What stories in a textbook might seem antagonistic to a lesbian or homosexual?

How might a school activity oppose the interest of a transvestite student? What could a teacher express that might be interpreted as unfavorable to a bisexual lifestyle?

Just what exactly will it mean to reflect adversely on, or discredit homosexuality?

The passage of 1437 will make it possible to forbid textbook references to traditional families with a dad and a mom, without including stories about two dads and two moms.

School events that celebrate boys as males and girls as females would be easily challenged. A teacher that extolled the virtues of marriage between a husband and wife could be called into the principal's office for discipline.

California schools will be forced to demean and redefine the traditional family and gender roles because they reflect adversely on homosexuality!

A One-Two Punch

Right now the education code prohibits instruction, school-sponsored activities, and textbooks that reflect adversely upon persons because of "sex, color, creed, handicap, national origin, or ancestry".

SB 1437 revises the list to include "race or ethnicity, gender, disability, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, or occupation."

By adding sexual orientation to the list, and keeping in mind that in California "gender" now means actual or "perceived," SB 1437 would team up with AB 606 to deliver a one-two punch to traditional principles upheld by families who send their children to public schools.

SB 1437 and AB 606 are two bills that must not become laws.

Erasing Traditional Ideals

It is mandatory for all children to feel safe and respected at school.

But if the only intent of SB 1437 and AB 606 are to protect youth, why must pro-homosexual teachings be thrust upon the youngest of children, fresh from their nurseries?

Why must all levels of students, from kindergarten up, be subjected to curriculum and activities that are stripped of references to the cherished and time-proven ideals upheld by their families and communities?

The result will be the chilling reality of an educational system that erases and rewrites the traditional standard of marriage, family, and gender so that it doesn't exist as a standard, only as one of many, many choices.

We can only conclude that is the real intent of these bills.

Let's start by getting the terms correct: "gender" is for nouns, "sex" is for persons, animals and plants.

School instruction and activities shouldn't reflect adversly on homnosexuality, bisexuality or transvestites. They should be ignored completely. But Drag Queens really hate being ignored.
They're the Master Race. Just ask them.

This law will forbid the discussion of any relationship between every President except for Buchanan and the first lady. No John and Abigail, no George and Martha, no Abe and Mary Todd, no Bill and hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
