Situation Report (SITREP) From Crawford, TX

Accounts of this weekend's activities in Crawford that were (or not) reported in the MSM force me to provide a SITREP of what happened. Some events I witnessed and some were reported to me by very reliable sources.

First, that champion of the downtrodden, Cindy Sheehan, arrived to a rock-star reception in Waco. She then was whisked to the Crawford "Peace" House via limosine. Who is paying for her travel?

In a story, entitled "Sheehan's daughter visits Crawford war protest camp," by Angela K. Brown, (Associated Press}, it was reported that some of (President) Bush's supporters, this Saturday in Crawford, TX, "returned to a pro-Bush camp set up in downtown Crawford by a souvenir shop. Other Bush supporters and their children also gathered at a park and had an Easter egg roll similar to one at the White House." This is not the whole truth...typical of the AP.

The "pro-Bush camp set up in downtown Crawford by a souvenir shop" was actually a camp by Gold Star parents of heroes killed in the War on Terror. It is adjacent to a souvenier shop. Big difference, huh!? I was told by one of the people at this demonstartion site that Cindy Sheehan honored these other Gold Star parents, with opposite political views, by flipping them "the bird" as she passed their site. Classy.

The "Other Bush supporters and their children also gathered at a park and had an Easter egg roll similar to one at the White House" was actually an Easter Egg roll, organized and run by the Texas Federation of Republican Women for the childred of military children from nearby Fort Hood.

I drove by "Camp Casey." Looks a lot smaller in person than in the MSN. Maybe 250-300 there. The usual suspects...old Leftists, new Leftists, Anarchists, self-hating Americans, mainstream clergy (wonder if any of them ever condemned Saddam's torture chambers or Hugo Chavez theft of his reelection?).

All in all, lots more President Bush supporters in town this weekend than the others.

I suspect that a few more people than the 250 loser lefties at Camp Casey are going to be in Crawford on May 6th.
