This is hilarious. Does anyone take this seriously? It kind of reminds me of those old movies with the overzealous, not very imaginative press agents working for some dimwit.

The Press in Christchurch is one of NZ's better newspapers. That said, I thought the article was rather fun: Easter Weekend is a slow time for our press, and the reporter will have been sharing the story with us in a light-hearted way (as you've observed).
No, it will not have been taken seriously. It will have been taken in the spirit it was intended.

Ray Hanna was the pilot who took MH434 under the 100 foot semi-circle Winston bridge in County Durham, flying at 200 m.p.h.

Kind of cute????
New York City is kind of big.
We'll have to get her to fly a nice, slow biplane with an open cockpit. She's a hottie.

I'm sure it could, although I'd be happy to meet her in the 1/1760 mile high club, too. :)

We'll have to get her to fly a nice, slow biplane with an open cockpit. Now, that could be taken the wrong way. I mean, by someone with a sufficiently dirty mind.

I don't think that you took it the wrong way at all. :)

She may not be an ace, but she's probably shot down her share of hotshot pilots.
