He is right on the money here. You said it, pal. Lifelong republican voter and donor here who will not vote for nor give one penny to the party ever again (the only exceptions being direct contributions to men like Tom Tancredo) if they do not fix this NOW.. and AMNESTY will not cut it. I am hardly the only one who feels this way, and if the party feels they do not need our support any further, then they can go ahead and continue on present course.
To: wagglebee
I doubt that the Republicans will lose the majority, and so must they. Else why would they be so irresponsible concerning this issue?

He is correct. The Conservatives are in a disarray over this and acting more like Liberals instead of fighting to get something accomplished.

Just thinking out loud here:
Obviously, Bush don't see the need to bend his will to what the public whats.
But he's still commander in chief, complete with war powers etc.
Does that lead one to believe his future plans, while maybe good for the nation, don't need having a supportive Congress?

Newt is going the way of Buchanon. What was that book that Buchanon put out that we, including me, all laughed at and the press ridiculed him for? It turned out to be true in some regards as far as the Mexican's want-to-be revolution and retaking of the Southwest.

This isn't about what's good for America and its people. This is about what it takes to get re-elected. Can't you peasants figure that out? We just can't trust you with anything, can we?

If the Republicans do lose the majority in the House the Dems will use the tools of power (that the Republicans seem so inept at) to guarantee a Democrat majority for a very long time...further loosening of voter scrutiny at the polls, national mandate for felons voting rights, reimposition of the fairness doctrine to shut down conservative speech. This will be possible if the current Republican leadership in the Congress and the Administration continue to pursue policies that suppress the conservative base...these folks will never vote Democrat but they could well stay home.
To: verity
How are they going to win 31 seats?
Answer: They are not.
They sure as hell won't get my vote.
I can't vote for the party of Kennedy, Kerry and Clinton and all the rest or the party first before country Dems.

"Thus giving aid and comfort to America's enemies."I won't vote for a liberal, no matter what party they are from. I learned that lesson by voting for George W. Bush.

but seriously, this illegal immigration thing should have been dealt with decades ago. It is on the shoulders of every congressperson, senator, and president since after Eisenhower. Yeah, I've noticed how the economy has sucked for 50 years.

What exactly were you doing when Reagan was in office?I was there. Reagan was great, too. I still think that Newt was better at articulating the conservative agenda. Whenever I listened to Newt I came away thinking "There is no way to refute what he said."
He wasn't as smooth as Reagan but he stuck to his point and always had his facts at hand to back his words up. He still does.

Who said I was sitting it out? You're making alot of assumptions. I'm tired tho, of people trying to bully those of us who do not feel compelled to vote republican just because. I have always done it in the past, however I'm not convinced that there will be republicans I can support in the next election. And I'm not going to pull the lever for them if I don't think they should be in office.

It turned out to be true in some regards as far as the Mexican's want-to-be revolution and retaking of the Southwest. More hysteria. A few dozen hotheads talk about a Mexican revolution, and FR swallows it whole.
Have you really thought this issue through?

....either you vote for somebody other than a Republican to send a message and make it easier for another socialist to win a seat, or you vote for a Republican and they assume that they've done an acceptable job.I have thought long and hard about that very question and the quagmire still remains. But, I have decided to vote Constitution party so that we may send a message we can't afford to send in 2008.

Who said I was sitting it out? Good, let your conscience and wisdom be your guide as to who can better protect America. If that be a Democrat, Republican or any other candidate that you could reasonably expect to be elected.
This is no time for fits of pique over sideshow issues.
