Newt Gingrich: Immig Failure Could Hand Dems Congress
NewsMax ^ | 4/16/06 | NewsMax

Newt Gingrich, the architect of the 1994 GOP Revolution, is warning that Republicans in Congress better "get their act together" and pass tough new laws against illegal immigration - or the Democrats will win back the House and Senate in November.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," the former House Speaker scorched his successors for a lack of performance across a whole range of issues, but zeroed in on what he called "the debacle two weeks ago on immigration."

"The [Senate's] McCain-Kennedy bill and the compromise that followed is so far from what the average American wants," Gingrich said, "that it raises the danger of Republican [voters] staying home."

The one-time top Republican noted that in poll after poll, the public has demanded tougher border security and reforms like a voter ID card, saying it would be easy to put Democrats on the defensive on the illegal immigration issue.

"I'd be perfectly happy for the Senate Republicans to bring up a border control bill and have Hillary and Schumer try to stop it," Gingrich told Fox.

"Sometimes incumbents forget that we were sent here to reform Washington, we were not sent here to be co-opted by Washington," he added. "For Republicans to succeed in '06 and '08 we need real change."

"The question for Republicans in the next 90 days is: Are they going to become the party of real change?" Gingrich said. "Are they going to learn some lessons and get their act together?"

This is not about workers rights or fair immigration policies. It has to do with international communist/socialist orgs looking to gain the political upperhand in the U.S..

Posted by JeffHead Jeff links to Mexica.org's 'after protest' pic fest. You can see there what the marchers thought they were marching for.

A poster for Friday’s march. March 31. This poster lists the Latino orgs that are promoting the protests. They are all communist/socialist front orgs.

Here is my analysis of what is going on behind the scenes.

Here is some evidence that 'amnesty' increases illegal entries. These people knew before the demonstrations that the time was ripe.

Smith Act of 1940 This is the U.S. statute that ought to apply to the organized gathering of tens of thousands of foreign nationals calling for the overthrow of our country.

H.R. 4437 At this link you will find a good exegesis of the only bill that doesn't offer some type of amnesty/pathway to citizenship/excuses for illegal entry. It is harsh on employers but has reasonable protections for employers who verify documents that are later shown to be false. It explains that the databases necessary are already in place. It provides for border security.

Understand that the provision that the protesters say is 'racist,' that makes illegals felons, was inserted by the Dems a short time ago. That clarifies why Hillary happened to discover the immigration issue a week before the marches. Why she demonized Republicans as "making Jesus a criminal."

Keep in mind just who organized these protests. Who provided the tens of thousands of T-shirts, the thousands of professionally made signs, the hours and hours of promotion on Spanish language radio and TV stations. It has been noticed that Islamic orgs names and logos appear on some of these signs as well. Remember that NEA teachers and administrators are the ones who have assisted the march organizers by providing bussing for their students, hoisting Mexican flags at school and overlooking the truancy.

Don't forget that the last two Presidential elections were nearly 50/50. Think about how our Congress is looking for a way to appease these foreign nationals through legislation. No election necessary. The outcome of legalizing 11 million illegals and encouraging more to come will be a solid lock for the left forevermore in national elections. We don’t need an ‘immigration’ bill. We need and want a border security and illegal aliens bill. An immigration/guest worker bill can come after that is done.

Mexico is Rich- Mexican wealthy play American taxpayers for suckers

Good thread for any that missed it. It should really make you mad.

Every dollar spent in U.S. taxes for social services for illegal aliens frees up additional cash to be sent south as part of the annual remittances which provided $20 billion in 2005. According to the CNN news show Lou Dobbs Tonight (3/21/05), "Remittances, as they're called, are expected to become Mexico's primary source of income this year, surpassing the amount of money that Mexico makes on oil exports for the first time ever."

Mayans in Chiapas Region Convert to Islam

The bill that was just defeated in the Senate was an amnesty, plain and simple. But take a look at what these treasonous scumbags tried to hide in it. They will be back and we can expect more of this if we do not act decisively.

Hidden Bombs (Extremely Important Article on Immigration)

The second nasty surprise? Just before the committee approved the bill on the evening of March 27, Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) offered the "DREAM Act" as an amendment. It passed on a voice vote.

The DREAM Act is a nightmare. It repeals a 1996 law that prohibits state universities from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens. The principle, of course, is that no illegal alien should be entitled to receive a taxpayer-subsidized benefit that out-of-state U.S. citizens can't get. But the committee's bill allows illegals to be treated better than those U.S. citizens on tuition.

Here is another reason Washington doesn't seem to want to do anything helpful.

CFR's Plan to Integrate the U.S., Mexico and Canada

What does the White House think about all of this?

Are you in favor of the Kyl-Cornyn bill without the modifications suggested by James Carafano, et al, or have some modifications been made already? Difficult to keep track and up-to-date with the landscape changing so rapidly.

I'm still having difficulty understanding why the borders weren't secured on 9-11 as an anti-terrorist measure? I can't fathom it.

It really is a mystery. In '04 the Congress passed a bill authorizing 2,000 new BP agents per year for several years. (I forget how many.) Since then the President has only put 150 new agents out there. We could have 4,000 new agents on the border right now.

Verification provisions are in HR4377, so if that is combined it would address one of the two concerns.

To be honest, Kyl-Cornyn went nowhere fast in the Senate, as Specter et all took up McCain-Kennedy fullbore-amnesty, much worse!

Kyl-Cornyn is a compromise where we are facing much worse alternatives.

There are a country's external enemies, and there are a country's internal enemies. America is being sold out, by enemies in both major political parties.

"It really is a mystery."

Yes. Not sure if it's for cheap lettuce or as a slow method to get the population accustomed to the greater agenda -- dissolution of our Constitution and borders in favor of a regional nation of states.

Somehow I don't think it's about lettuce.

I must disagree with your conclusion.

Did either of you vote for Clinton?

"Do you think the passage of HR 4377 reflects a failure of the Republican House to listen to cosnervatives? Why?"

Well, it's one of the few things they have done right, now we will have to wait and see if they really mean it or will cave to the Senate in conference.

They haven't done much to please fiscal conservatives.

"But you get to only vote for or against 3 of them."

Where do you live that you get to vote for 3 senators?

Hello, again, WOSG. Another question today. Heh.

What powers do the president have and what can/should he do TODAY, apart from Congress, to stop the erosion of and re-capture the conservative base?

If you were president, what would you do?

Thanks again.

"What powers does the president have and what can/should he do TODAY ... If you were president, what one, two, or three things would you do?"

1) I dont know how far the employment verification program can go without Congress, but I'd find some way to expand it.
2) I'd ask all Companies in the US to make a public statement in support of hiring only illegals. Why not make it a matter of civic responsibility, like the companies so proud of 'green technology'. ... actually this is something *WE* can do, by demanding our own companies do that, and boycotting companies that hire illegal aliens.
3) Exec branch can reform the BIA and fight back against immigration lawyers and hidden loopholes.
4) More funds in border patrol for direct border security.

Frankly, it wont change public perception, its all hidden.

Do you believe the percentages on the FR poll are will hold or get worse between now and November?

In your opinion, even if the percentages were halved, would that still spell disaster for the Republicans in November -- and very possibly '08 -- assuming the poll is a true indicator of a national consensus?
