Newt Gingrich: Immig Failure Could Hand Dems Congress

Newt Gingrich, the architect of the 1994 GOP Revolution, is warning that Republicans in Congress better "get their act together" and pass tough new laws against illegal immigration - or the Democrats will win back the House and Senate in November.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," the former House Speaker scorched his successors for a lack of performance across a whole range of issues, but zeroed in on what he called "the debacle two weeks ago on immigration."

"The [Senate's] McCain-Kennedy bill and the compromise that followed is so far from what the average American wants," Gingrich said, "that it raises the danger of Republican [voters] staying home."

The one-time top Republican noted that in poll after poll, the public has demanded tougher border security and reforms like a voter ID card, saying it would be easy to put Democrats on the defensive on the illegal immigration issue.

"I'd be perfectly happy for the Senate Republicans to bring up a border control bill and have Hillary and Schumer try to stop it," Gingrich told Fox.

"Sometimes incumbents forget that we were sent here to reform Washington, we were not sent here to be co-opted by Washington," he added. "For Republicans to succeed in '06 and '08 we need real change."

"The question for Republicans in the next 90 days is: Are they going to become the party of real change?" Gingrich said. "Are they going to learn some lessons and get their act together?"

The GOP is too terrified of the MSM. Afraid they'll be called racists for enforcing the law, the GOP will slowly fade into the sunset.

The Dems will take back the House and maybe the Senate too. But at least the current GOP majority can at least think well of themselves.

Seriously, if the Republicans don't pass tough immigration laws, and that leads to the Democrats taking over, count on them to tear down all the border barriers, and simply open the country up to be overrun by anyone and everyone.

At that point we are going to have to forget this nonsense of having a United States government and figure out how to take back America ~ SANS all current politicians and their running dog lackeys in such organizations as NOW, ACLU, RC hierarchy, LULAC, LA RAZA, and so on and so forth ad nauseum.

All of which means that we have to make sure the Republicans win even if some of them have to be convinced to step aside now so that an acceptable candidate can be run in their place.

That includes, ta da, Dennis Hastert. That bad boy has got to go into retirement NOW.

Agreed but the President must listen also. I have little confidence that either will and this is an absolute "no brainer."

Newt is going the way of Buchanon.

Both Newt and Buchanan make way more sense on immigration than the clowns in Congress do.

Think of it as "political evolution".

IF the Republicans don't adapt to the voter demands, the part will eventually die from lack of support.

And that's the way it should be.

Nobody thought the "Contract with America" had any chance in 1994.

Not only Congress, but the White house too.

And the only candidate coming forth on the Republican ticket is the RHINO McCain.

when it comes to immigration issues, Buchannan and Gingrich make more sense than just about anyone in office right now.

only a few exceptions.

" Nobody thought the "Contract with America" had any chance in 1994."

Nobody thought that the Democrats were offering the Contract in 1994.

What are the Democrats offering besides tax hikes, open borders, bigger government and a cut and run policy concerning terrorism?

How are they going to win 31 seats?
Answer: They are not.

Well, I don't care for Buchanan, but Newt is growing on me by the day. He may be an imperfect man, but who among us are perfect?

He knows and understands history and the dangers of repeating history and he is on the right side of most things I, as a conservative, believe in. If he keeps going the way he has lately I will vote for him in the AZ primaries.

.... I became convinced that Americans do the dumbest things.

People forget that there is a WAR going on and much of this other stuff is a political side show.
