Nope. It more of the wishful thinking "Ah there must be a scape goat we can blame for this mess" The problem is a lot more complex then most Freepers care to admit. They seem to think there is some magic wand, like sending out letters, that will fix the problem. Umm, NO there isn't.

Give you ONE example. At 4.7 Unemployment rate there is NOT this huge pool of Americans sitting around just itching to take the jobs the illegals are doing. 2. A LOT of the people who do these jobs are crap. I have worked with Hispanics on Construction. Don't know if they were legal or not. But out of 7 guys on the crew, me and the 3 Hispanics where the ONLY guys who showed up sober, every day and put in a full days work. The rest had a very high level of absenteeism and the second it got after 4:30 wanted to be done for the day. Then for a good chunk of the day they gabbed and goofed off. They seem to think they were entitled to a job.

Sorry, I know this is not what Freepers what to hear but this is NOT a problem that has any easy answers.

no- not all will deport themselves....not likely at all....but it would certainly help in STOPPING the madness and the supply for the demand of illegals...

but my main point of dissention was that clamping down on lawbreaking businesses is anti-business....

I am so glad to have hung on this thread for the first time today. Finally, thoughtful and respectful postings, unlike SO much of the board.

IMO, there is NO solution to this problem short of the National Identity Card. I have begged people to show me a plan for securing our borders. Still waiting.

Why? Because it can't be physically done. Hell, people break out of prison on a regular basis. Humans are very ingenious when they want to get from one place to another.

So, I must conclude that the President's plan is all that has even a chance for helping the situation. Panacea? Of course not. Doable with some hope for improving the situation? Yes
