I am biased here,
my brother is an F-16 pilot....I am in favor of ANYTHING that keeps him safer....
Gingrich said it to Wallace in the Fox interview this morning. He was emphasizing that it is the U.S. framework of having civilian (Rumsfeld) over the military.
Was McInery on Foxnews Sunday?
For sure.
Our local grammar school had a 'feelings' teacher for a while. Don't know if she's still there....and frankly I don't want to know!!! It's too painful.
If 90% are Republican, then you should be GLAD the democrats are after the remaining 10% - you are the one who wants balance.
ANd retired folks ARE allowed to speak their minds on national issues. There is nothing strange or wrong about it.
Really? I thought it depended on those nice scarfs you zoomies wore. Navy turtlenecks just couldn't compare, you know?
2 big engines and a big radar can make a TopGun out of an accountant.
LOL...I try to remember that I am a mother in law and don't want to be 'one of those'!
Rangel voted against his own bill to reinstitute the draft. It was defeated by almost a unanimous vote. The Dems tried to use the threat of the draft, i.e. that Bush was going to reinstitute it, in 2004 in order to get college students out to vote.
Although politically not possible, many Dems would like to see a draft reinstituted, because it gives them more control over the military and younger voters. They have tried to use the Vietnam template to drum up opposition to the Iraq war, but it has not worked. It is difficult to get the public worked up when the people fighting the war are all volunteers. That is why they latch on to a Cindy Sheehan.
Besides, the courts were about to strike down the draft as involuntary servitude (Amendment XIII) before it was discontinued.
Source please. We still have selective service registration and could start up the draft again if this country needed the bodies. I can't see SCOTUS preventing this country from defending itself. The draft has never been declared unconstitutional by any federal court that I am aware of.
Nothing about Easter is a state or federal holiday. That would violate the "seperation of Church and State." Schools often get a week or so off around this time, but it's no longer an "Easter break" but instead is "spring break," which has a very different meaning.
Most businesses don't give any time off for Easter, either. That has more to do with getting more out of fewer workers, though. Europeans have much more vacation time, in general, than American's do.
Having said, that, the parking lot at my office was only half full on Friday and emptied out fairly quickly starting around noon. Lot's of folks won't be there Monday, either, but they'll be taking a personal vacation day to get the time off.
I'll be slaving away at my desk on Monday, but that's because a week later I'll be out for a week at a vendors Customer Council meeting, where I'll be wined and dined as they ply all of us with largese in order to convince us we really want to buy more of their stuff. <g>
I want to see an interview with the ICE-lady, whatever her name is. I want to know why she isn't doing her job and why she's ordering her agents to stay away from the illegal immigrant rallies.
It just went off for me sorry bout the late reply
billy is the QUEEN of the DC Castroti!

I never thought Cohen was a working Senator, he wrote books that nobody read, and sucked up to Clinton and other Dems while claiming that he was a Republican. He was totally useless as a Senator. I do not know even one bill that he ever introduced. He had no qualifications to be Secretary of Defense, and Rummy has an overabundance of qualifications. Clinton got kudos from the Media for going against the norm and appointing a "Republican" to his Cabinet which was a big laugh. Republicans were glad to see him go,but wished he would have been good enough to take "Republican" off his resume'.
Good discussion on the thread
The Church will change it's position someday, but in the meantime, it's a valid argument.
Unfortunately, like in the Episcopal Church (my church), most of the women at the forefront are more political than they are religious.
But that changes over time.
My implication was that they were politically critical of Lincoln before it became a civil war. Further, the kind of vitriol coming from President Bush's critics today logically leads directly to a civil war, or at least justification of a coup or the assassination of GWB. We may just be earlier in the cycle.
Hey! Hey! WE can disagree, but "zoomies"?
I'll have you know I'm a 90-day wonder...not an indoctrinated Acadamy grad!
BTW - I can't recall the last time I saw an Air Force pilot wearing his scarf. What a damn stupid idea they are! It is one of the very few areas (a commitment to electronic warfare being the other) where I will conceed the superiority of the US Navy!
Neuuhaus denying the premise of Russert's question concerning "why so much rancor?"
