The airport worker enjoyed Hollywood's club scene. His hand was found chained to the steering wheel in Iraq's deadliest attack.
It was a few months before 9/11, and Albanna had left the constraints of his Islamic country far behind. In America, friends said, he had found what he was looking for sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.
"He was into partying. We hit some pretty wild clubs in Hollywood," said Steve Gray, who worked with Albanna at Ontario International Airport and considered him a close friend.
All the more reason his friends were dumbfounded when they were told that the funloving Jordanian had become a suicide car bomber, pulling off the deadliest single attack in Iraq. U.S. authorities said he killed 132 Iraqis outside a Hillah medical clinic Feb. 28, 2005.
A hand chained to a steering wheel revealed fingerprints that identified him as the bomber. It was the only body part that remained.

Just imagine, he could have blown up something here in the US.
These people are automatons.
Sounds like he started to go to some Muslim Mosque here in Southern CA, where he got brainwashed.
Initially all he cared about was partying, then he started to go to a Mosque, become very devout, and a couple months later went back to Jordan.
He was a sleeper who overstayed his tourist visa. He was most likely casing the Ontario airport for his Al Qaeda buddies. Thank goodness he was denied re-entry and that he didn't kill any Americans. Let him rot in Hell.
"He then "found religion" (became a devout Muslim), then returned to Jordan in 2002, wanted to come back to the US, but Homeland Security sent him back. Just imagine, he could have blown up something here in the US."
That is creepy part #1.
Creepy part #2 is the fact that his hand was chained.
Was this an 'involuntary suicide bomber'?
it reminds me of the story of the 'suicide bomber' who was stopped succesfully from attacking a coalition facility. Somehow he survived ... the man was chained to the car, and as he explained it, his family was kidnapped and he was told he had to do this attack or his family would die.
These are the kind of people we are fighting ... creepy point #3.
I think you are right on all three of your "creepy parts".
Lovely. I fly in and out of Ontario, CA every week right now....
Not saying that's what happened, but it is possible, and well within their ROE, such as they are.
There were other cases, where the bomber survived, or changed his mind at last minutes, and he was chained to the car.
Looks like they are running out of willing suicide bombers.
"I think we should thank this lowly, anonymous Homeland security guard, who probably saved the lives of a lot of people in LosAngeles..."
I agree -- one of the unsung heroes. Remember, a perceptive customs agent stopped a terrorist trying to smuggle a bomb to the US to blow up LAX on New Years Eve year 2000. She also saved a lot of lives.
Back when I was in AF ROTC, and the Vietnam War was still on, although most US ground forces were in the process of being withdrawn, we had FAC pilot come speak to us. He reported that more than once he witnessed North Vietnamese truck drivers along the Ho Chi Minh trail, taking a leak standing on the running boards of the their trucks, because they were chained to the vehicles. I've read other reports of NVA tank crews being manacled into their vehicles, Chinese in the Korean War as well, IIRC
I just saw that on one of the Discovery/Learning/Military/History channels. When American pilots bombed the HCMt the drivers would jump from the vehicles and head for the woods.
