As strange as he is, he sounds more moderate than most. It almost sounds like what Islam purports itself to be.

I guess F-111s screaming over and making your life hell, along with how fast Baghdad fell can have moderating effect on your world view

I don't know if I'd actually go so far as to call him moderate. Read further down in the article:

Qadhafi also called for reviewing the Bible, which he considers to be "false and phony".

IIRC isn't this the reason Malcolm X was killed? Seems like after a pilgrimage to Mecca, he became convinced that the true message of Islam was that all men of the earth were supposed to work together for God.

Isn't it the anniversary of the '86 strike on him? Perhaps Lionel Ritchie is a moderating influence on him also.
