TEHRAN, Iran - The president of Iran again lashed out at Israel on Friday and said it was "heading toward annihilation," just days after Tehran raised fears about its nuclear activities by saying it successfully enriched uranium for the first time.

For some reason, it's like he is trying to draw us out of Iraq.

My question: why doesn't Israel pre-emptively strike Iran??

He doesn't care. All the Islamic nutbags are perfectly cynical when it comes to the Palis. They will be gloriously martyred if they die-its a can't lose proposition for the soon to be nuclear nutbag.

They don't care. For them, the loss of the Palestinians is worth the destruction of Israel. When you have a civilization with a death wish, its hard to stop them through rational means of deterrence. Pre-emption then is the only answer.

1939 all over again. Instead of Germany and Poland, it's Iran and Israel.

I am starting to fear that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon specifically for use against Israel."
They probably are, but they will never get the chance to deliver it.

The president of Iran . . . said it was "heading toward annihilation,"

A nuke detonated in that area will destroy all of the land Even 24 atom bombs will not destroy everything. If they use 20 megaton thermonuclear bombs they will, but the smaller ones are not nearly so powerful.

Israel would if it has no other choice. It prefers to see whether diplomacy will produce results and await what the United States does. But if Israel perceives the threat is overwhelming, she will act. Of that, I have no doubt.

"For some reason, it's like he is trying to draw us out of Iraq."
Is it possible he actually wants us to invade or bomb? I guess that would be another explanation. While that would certainly be costly for us, that's nothing compared to what it would do to his country. Besides, Iran has a long history of supporting terrorist groups like Hezzbollah so attacking Iran wouldn't even be a stretch of the Bush doctrine.
Surely there must be some other explanation.

There is only one nation on earth right now that could truly annihilate another nation. And that nation certainly is NOT Iran with its up-and-coming wanna-be mini-nuke.

I have long believed that perhaps the true intention of invading Iraq was to ultimately make it easier to take on Iran. By being in Iraq, we already can set up the staging point for such an attack.

Not sure how Iran would wipe out Israel with nukes without wiping out the Palestianians as well.
To: RightWhale
The problem is Israel's population is concentrated in a very small area. It would not take too much to wipe out the Jewish State. You can call it a Second Holocaust from which the country would never recover. That is why Israel takes Iran's threats seriously. Hitler followed through on his bellicose rhetoric and wiped out a third of the Jewish people. All of this brings to mind the old saying, "the word is the father to the deed." Everything we know about Iran tells us these people mean it. If any one thinks they want a nuclear capability just for peaceful purposes, they're dreaming.

They're using the Palestinians cynically. A regime motivated by blind Jew hatred is not going to allow a scruple such as a regard for Muslim life to stand in the way of their objective. Just look how little regard the Muslims have for each other's lives in Iraq. They may hate each other but they hate Jews most of all.

Time for the two-step solution.
1. Ship anyone in America with "free palestine" banners to iran.
2. Bomb the mulla running iran into the stone age.
