PURCELL -- An Amber Alert was issued 7:40 p.m. Thursday for 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin of Purcell.
Jamie was reported missing by her father, Curtis Bolin, after she never returned home Wednesday night, said Police Chief David Tompkins.
"The last time anyone saw her was a neighbor girl between 4 and 5 p.m.," he said. "She told us that Jamie was riding her bicycle from school to her house to get a set of keys so she could go to the library."
Police are seeking a 20- to 30-year-old white male with dark hair, who was reportedly driving a dark blue Chevrolet Tahoe with Texas plates, in the reported abduction. The vehicle had dark tinted windows, large shiny wheels and the word "fox" on its back window, police said. A partial license plate reading was "Z69," according to the alert. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-877-OK-AMBER.
Officers believed Jamie might have met the man on the Internet. Late Thursday, Tompkins said the FBI had become involved in the search.
An Amber Alert was not issued immediately because an abduction was not witnessed, Tompkins said. As of late Thursday afternoon, police believed Jamie might have run away.
"We have not a clue right now where she is," Tompkins said Thursday afternoon, noting that search efforts included personnel from Wadley's Ambulance Service, the Purcell Fire Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the McClain County Sheriff's Department and Dibble, Lexington, Oklahoma City and Washington, Okla., police officers and authorities are assisting in search efforts in varying capacities. Throughout Thursday, city crews were also directed to help in search efforts, said Mayor Betty Gerhard.
Jamie's paternal grandmother, Marian Rose Fox, said the family has no reason to believe that she ran away.
"She was a pretty good student when she wanted to be," Rose said, "and she just recently joined the Girl Scouts. We're praying that if she is somewhere, worst case scenario that someone is out there who took her, I'm hoping she hears me, she sees me on TV, or something and can hear me say that she's not in trouble... We want her, we miss her and we need her home."
Rose said family members and area churches have rallied around the close-knit family to provide food and emotional support during search and rescue efforts.
"I just hope that she can do whatever it takes to get away, make a noise or something to let us know where she is," she said.
Jamie is described as an about 110 pound, red-haired girl with blue eyes and freckles. She wears glasses, and authorities believe she was last seen wearing a pink shirt, blue jeans or white shorts, and riding her green bicycle with pink or purple lettering on a chain guard.
"Right now we're asking that anyone who has seen anything or knows anything that may lead to her recovery should call us at 527-4600," said Purcell Fire Chief Mike Clifton.

Indeed, that family will need our prayers. From the interviews, I had the impression they've already had a lot of hardship, now this. Bless her heart, this little girl had no idea what she was doing when she started talking to that monster online.

PURCELL, Okla. -- The uncle of a missing 10-year-old Purcell girl confirmed to Eyewitness News 5's Kimberly Lohman Friday night that his niece had been killed.
A news conference has been called for 9 p.m., and both Eyewitness News 5 and channeloklahoma.com will carry it live.

Thank you for the update. Very sad news, but not unexpected.
Well, millions of people use it every day and think it's just fine. I was shocked by what the younger teens and on up in age put on there, language-wise (and spelling-wise, lol!) - but the criminal element has made itself known there, like many other places.
The problems come in when kids, even supervised, accidentally put in the blog parts all the places they'll be going and things they'll be doing - even when they were careful not to put in their real names or addresses. They do put in their school names, so they can find each other. But so can the neighborhood perv.
The news conference is on now. I am in SW OKC and this hits home.
Let us know what you hear and see.
Apparently the sexual predator that the girl was communicating with on the internet was not the one who killed her.
The suspect is a neighbor....
Dollars to donuts he'd been abusing her for a long time, which is why she knew how to talk explicit sex with a stranger. And a fit of jealous rage, stemming from her "two-timing" on him, is probably why he killed her.
Poor kid....
That may be true, or not--they also hinted that there might have been two of them, working together.
Oh, my heavens. What are the chances of that? The online predator was not the neighbor? Both in this one little girl's life?
Give him a trial and then kill him. I am so sick of these monsters.
From his profile at blogspot.
Tell me he didn't.
That comment is one of the few that might reveal what he really is--also check out his favorites (movies, music, etc.). Some of those are pretty gruesome. By themselves, the favorites might not mean much, but when you look at them together, plus what we now know he did, I think this guy is a monster and has been for a very long time.
Ugh. I don't know what to think. What struck me was that he was much more articulate than most who write those template blog things--especially for someone who has worked at Carl's Jr. for 9 years.
Noted also that he is a redhead, too, like his victim. He said he was taking Lexapro in one of his blog entries (I think it was the Sept 2004 that several "commenters" recommended). That is an antidepressant - SSRI. I had to look it up, because I thought it was called "Lexapril" from hearing it pronounced on TV.
His crime certainly shows he is a monster, by any definition of the word, but his writings seem very ordinary. His pic didn't indicate that he freaky-looking or anything--also very ordinary. One surprising notation--in answering questionnaire on "firsts" in his life--he was was "first kissed" at 17 by a girl he gave a present to and he "first kissed" a girl when he was 22!
Amazing that he talks a lot about his parents being around in his everyday life--and a little sister. How do these cretins develop like this? He wrote a blog entry Thursday afternoon--after Jamie was taken on Wednesday, from what we know. Incomprehensible.
MySpace was down for "site maintenance," so I didn't see what he had on there. Probably just as well.
I think this link went to another blog space. Even so, I don't think the material on those sites will help any of us sleep well. There really are creepy, crawly things that go bumb in the night...
Sadly, she has been found dead...
