Any guest-worker program approved by Congress for the nation's 11 million illegal aliens would spawn a new wave of cheap-labor illegals that already-overwhelmed federal authorities are unprepared to handle, law-enforcement authorities and immigration officials say. A former high-ranking U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) official said the federal government does not have an adequate post-legalization enforcement program to prevent an expected flood of fraudulent identity documents or sanction employers who hire the new illegals. "The new illegal aliens will be cheaper than the guest workers, and there will be nobody in the government to check up on them," said the official, who asked not to be identified. "If there is no enforcement, illegals will pour in, requiring serial amnesties or legalization efforts." If any of the guest-worker, or amnesty, plans now pending in Congress are approved, the nation will experience an even greater flood of illegal aliens than in the wake of President Reagan's 1986 amnesty program, said several officials. Under the Immigration and Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA), INS added 1,000 inspectors -- bringing the total to 2,000 -- and they were not able to enforce the employer sanctions and fraud laws outlined in the bill, said the former immigration official. The law-enforcement authorities and immigration officials said IRCA was designed to address a population of fewer than 3 million illegal aliens. "The illegals kept flooding in ... and now we have another fine mess, this time with marching in the streets," he said, adding that newly arriving illegal labor under a guest-worker program will compete against those granted legal status and can be paid less because they will have no recourse or appeal. "It is not likely that the smuggling and illegal labor industry will just shut down due to a guest-worker program," he said.

This article smacks of truth. "The new illegals would be cheaper than the guest workers." "Serial amnesties." "Unable to enforce..."
With liberals, if one liberal scheme doesn't work it only spawns an even bigger and more disastrous one.
bttt
This has been my point all along. This plan will never work and create a far worse mess since the new "guests" will no longer be attractive to employers looking to avoid taxes and looking for employees they don't have to pay Worker's Comp on.
Once the illegals already here realize this, and realize that by signing up for this sham they will be signing themselves up for a paycut, they will not go for it.
At that point, is the gov't prepared to deport people?
Absolutely sickening to watch America be intimidated by a plethora of foreign nationals into altering our nation's domestic and foreign policies.
Per other articles recently, many foreigners are amassing toward the US border in anticipation of the new legislation.
Unless and until 'enforcement' becomes the primary concern, any new laws will only add to the problem. Until Congress and a President gets serious about the issue, it will never have a solution. And the flood will continue.
The down side is that it threatens our national sovereignty. It is an invasion. And currently, we are losing.
EXACTLY!
The ONLY way to CLEAN UP this entire mess is to DEPORT!
Deport every single one of them, much cheaper in the long run.
We do NOT have the infrastructure for million and millions CRIMINALS to keep flooding in.
Cheap labor be damned! If they want cheap labor than go to another country but stop importing them. Companies exported jobs, export the jobs TO mexico DON'T import them here!
But be warned because you companies who insist on cheap labor and import all this mass humanity of criminals here
don't think that we will buy your stuff made for and by illegals!
Bump...
Just wait till the commie gets elected president of Mexico in July....
press one for espanol, press two for we own your government and you are all fools for letting us stay here
"Just wait till the commie gets elected president of Mexico in July...."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..
can't wait for him and BUSH in the rose garden best of friends and all that The Mexican President has strict immigration laws and keeps out massive illegal immigration in Mexico the phrase:just doing the Job an American President won't do. comes to mind.
That is really where the buck stops. And the answer is NO. Lots of posters think it would be a simple matter to deport 20+ million people including children but no, it would not be simple. In some areas such as California and parts of Texas, it would be damn near impossible.
My best ideas so far:
1- CLOSE THE BORDER NOW.
2- Verify every employee's status and stop paychecks to illegals. Got illegal family members here? You pay for them, not us.
3- Verify every beneficiary's status and stop benefits to illegals. No in-state tuition for you. No handouts.
4- Employers who skirt the law must be hit hard. Make it very expensive to hire illegals.
5- Anyone arrested for any crime, if they're illegal, deport them immediately.
The rest will take care of itself. No jobs, no benefits, no shelter from scrutiny. If only someone has the will to make it so.

Here is a snapshot of the past months immigrant justice movement building. Over 60 events (around 3 million people) here barely begin to represent the power of whats going on, although you can almost see it when looking at the past couple days of thousands of highschool students walking out in protest repeatedly!
Its unbelievable how little coverage there is (it took me hours to compile this). The fully grassroots nature of most of these actions (many fueled/organized by radio, tv, myspace and cellphones) is promising
For all of us who had the chance to be part of this past weeks explosive demonstrations, and for us non-immigrants who have the gift of being part of this incredible movement, this is the time. Allies need to step it up! More to follow .

If the illegal aliens are naturalized won't they demand health care, retirement bennies, paid vacation, family leave and sick days? In fact they won't have to demand it the law would require it wouldn't it? The employers will let them go and hire all new illegal foreign nationals who will be coming here in a ratio of 3-1, like last time amnesty was granted, because of what they see has just happened. Again.
Plus don't forget that every one that receives amnesty will demand to bring their whole family and Grandpa and uncle Pedro, who then will demand to bring their wife's family and their cousin's family...and if they are citizens then they will probably win.
And when they get to vote in large numbers, especially in areas like California with majorities, they can change the laws to protect more illegals. And on it goes.
