Immigration Madness

There is only one group of people with less credibility on the immigration issue than Washington politicians. It is the illegal immigrants protesting violations of their "rights" while parading the Mexican flag and disrespecting the one symbolizing the great nation from which they're demanding favors.

I'm not talking about all demonstrators in every city in which a march occurred. Some were reportedly peaceful and even patriotic. But the hostility of some protestors did more to galvanize apathetic Americans into demanding action on immigration than all the previous alarm-warnings from politicians and pundits combined.

Nothing awakens the sleeping giant like direct threats to her sovereignty and security. And it was hard not to feel violated by the outrageous spectacle of people making demands on the very system they have circumvented instead of demonstrating some humility, if not contrition.

On the other hand, it's not hard to understand their attitude, given our shameful negligence concerning the integrity of our border and the rule of law. We hardly have clean hands either, considering our enforcement laxity and our Faustian bargain to reap the fruit of the poisonous tree by exploiting the cheap labor illegals provide. We don't even have enough respect for our laws to call violators "illegals," insisting on the euphemism undocumented workers.

The Full Moon seems to bring them out, eh?

They're on the losing side so they have to let out their last gasp, I guess...

"And when did the plight of the worker become the primary concern of the Republican Party?"

It hasn't yet. But since the Democratic Party has abandoned the American worker, and I happen to believe in supporting the American worker, I would like to see if we can steer the Republican Party in the direction of standing up for the American worker.

A pipedream you say? I hardly think so. There are a whole lot of House Republicans that are strongly pro-worker.

Once we get some of those petrified relics retired from the Senate, maybe we'll get some in there as well.

"You do realize that Spanish is the official language of several states and that speaking Spanish is not a "threat to the American way of life." There's no need to fear "

Yes, Mexicans bite, kill, rape, lie, smuggle, dope business, et al. There is a TREMENDOUS NEED FOR US TO FEAR OUTLAWS.

What states have made Spanish language Official Language? I do not like spanish or any other language to be used with my sick relatives in hospital. Most companies forbid use of Spanish language in work place. Who are you??

so something "having the status of official language" does not make it "an official language"? What "language" are you speaking?

"Are you saying illegal aliens do NOT have First Amendment rights:"

Correct. The only right guaranteed criminals is the right to due process, which is even questionable in the case of illegal immigrants, as they have rejected the jurisdiction of the US Constitution by breaching our borders without permission.

I fail to see how I'm wrong as I linked to a page that clearly stated it. Aside from handing you the actual bill that made spanish an official language of New Mexico, I don't know what else I can do. It's the internet, get over your link fear.

We would need robust enforcement of employer sanctions. Initially, that would require many thousands of agents. Do you really think so? I think that once enforcement began in earnest employers would start dropping illegals like hot potatoes. A little citizen involvement would go a long way too. I'd turn them in in a hearbeat.

"Yes, Mexicans bite, kill, rape, lie, smuggle, dope business, et al. There is a TREMENDOUS NEED FOR US TO FEAR OUTLAWS."

So does everyone else. We've covered this before: of an estimated 11-20 million illegal immigrants, 270,000 are in jail. That's 1.5-2 percent, not bad, in comparison. In 2000, there were 2 million incarcerated, a number that has surely risen since then, and that itself is about 1.5 percent of the population. Furthermore, in twelve states, between 10 and 15 percent of adult black men are incarceratedm in ten states, between 5 and 10 percent of black adults are incarcerated.

Looks like an economic research paper to me, or did you not read it?

Some of that pointy-head theory done by people who've never nailed top plate in a snowstorm at 10 below zero.

You stated "it is THE official language of several states."

Have you been able to prove that claim for even one state?

No.

What is your point anyway? How about cutting to the chase and telling us you're working for Reconquista.

Eh?

Who measures "status"? Wikipedia? I'm sorry, but there is enough crap written as truth on Wikipedia to pretty much make it a non-source in this debate. Let her provide true documentation.
What language to you speak gringo?
I speak the language of this country, the language that LEGAL immigrants learn to attain citizenship... English.

Hey rolling stone, you know your stuff!

thanks, I wish my liberal Senator Feinstein had a clue..according to her testimony she was swayed by the Farm Burea saying they couldnt get enough workers so she had an agricultural job posted at 58 welfare offices and no one responded...Liberals-ahhhh- who in their right mind is going to give up or reduce their welfare entitlement to work in the field for next to nothing per hour? ahhhhh no wonder the Senate is messed up. So she proposed and amnesty like the failed 1986 amnesty knowing full well it was rampant with fraud...I cannot believe these people can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time...
