Immigration Madness

There is only one group of people with less credibility on the immigration issue than Washington politicians. It is the illegal immigrants protesting violations of their "rights" while parading the Mexican flag and disrespecting the one symbolizing the great nation from which they're demanding favors.

I'm not talking about all demonstrators in every city in which a march occurred. Some were reportedly peaceful and even patriotic. But the hostility of some protestors did more to galvanize apathetic Americans into demanding action on immigration than all the previous alarm-warnings from politicians and pundits combined.

Nothing awakens the sleeping giant like direct threats to her sovereignty and security. And it was hard not to feel violated by the outrageous spectacle of people making demands on the very system they have circumvented instead of demonstrating some humility, if not contrition.

On the other hand, it's not hard to understand their attitude, given our shameful negligence concerning the integrity of our border and the rule of law. We hardly have clean hands either, considering our enforcement laxity and our Faustian bargain to reap the fruit of the poisonous tree by exploiting the cheap labor illegals provide. We don't even have enough respect for our laws to call violators "illegals," insisting on the euphemism undocumented workers.

what if they want to come over to escape a health care system that makes them wait days for an asthma attack?

Do you support making undocumented canadians people felons as well?

If you insist on an idiotic law, then I insist on equal enforcement of said idiotic law. Build a wall on the Mexican border? Make it harder to cross over from Canada as well. That's not unfair.

"They do not alter things America."
explain. They're here illegally, they're breaking US law. They're not paying taxes and they're using the same loopholes undocumented latinos use. What's the difference?

I see your informed post has been ignored by the anti-American Liberal traitors in our midst.

I'm sorry that your belief in your complete and perfect rightness leads you to fail to recognize who the true big-government liberals are.

Canada has 24 million people. They probably have a few thousand that have come in. Mexico has hundreds of millions and of the 12 million, 80% are Mexican or Latin American.

You are disingenuous at best.

Easy, the left spends its way out of existance. There's always pull and push forces on politics. Parties wax and wane.

If its not racist to say "Viva La Raza' - meaning the Latino 'race', then why is it racist to say "Viva La Raza Blanco" - specifically saying the white race.

I'm not advocating this, I'm just asking.

sigh. I'm arguing that perhaps this is an appropriate occasion to discuss CHANGING the law.

We can change our laws after we attempt to enforce them and not before..you sound like the kid who when losing wants to change the rules to better fit himself. You do not appear interested in learning only promoting...adios muchacho...

"for the propagation of opinions"

Are we forcing you to pay someone to say something you disagree with? If not, your quote is entirely inappropriate. And before you go quoting a Federalist paper on how bad transfer programs are, or an income tax is, I agree. The problem with those papers, and your quote, is that they're not exactly in anything official.

The reason the law must be enforced against illegal immigration is not that it is a great moral offense, but because to fail to do so would wipe out the sovereignty of our nation, and with it our Constitution, bill of rights, and economic system.

Indeed. There at least a half billion people in the world that are worse off than Mexican and Latin American peasants and would love to come here. That is almost twice our present population.

If we can't enforce our borders and sovereignty from Mexicans and Latin Americans for moral/ethical reasons what moral ethic do we use to turn the other impoverished souls of the world away?

Is this morality being suggested selective? Relative? Relative to what then?

Are you leaving? Finally.

Is that what you say whenever someone wants to change a law? Not a very effective way of running a government.

Will the gentle lady read my whole post?.

Send the beggers back says I. Voluntary deportation would do nicely.

I meant Canadian illegals. Oh, they run scared, not in someones face. They admit to doing something that is wrong. They ain't the absolute devastation of the American way of life. How about the old lingo? English as she is spoke.

Happy Easter and God Bless America.

Build a wall on the Mexican border? Make it harder to cross over from Canada as well. That's not unfair.

It's not our obligation to be "fair" to different countries in our security measures. Our obligation is to put our primary effort where the biggest problem is. If after we've secured the Mexican border, we decide that the Canadian border could use some shoring up also, I'd be open to that. That doesn't mean we have any obligation to do to the Canadian border what we do to the Mexican border. Our Constitution contains no "equal protection" clause for foreign nations.

But does that difficulty really warrant the enormous cost?

Do the economic disadavantages of having illegal immigrants in this country really outweigh the costs of building a fence that would not prevent them from getting in, just make it "harder" for them to do so?

I'm not convinced. at all.

Worst case scenario: welfare state gets bigger, people react, get angry that so much money is being spent, and move to finally get rid of the darn thing.

So anyway, I am glad to see that many conservatives that may not have not been fully cognizant of the threat that illegal immigration poses to our nation have awoken to the fact after witnessing massive Marxist-led demonstrations for "civil rights" by predominantly non-Americans (with a sprinkeling of Americans of the radical left), and have been duly shocked by the fact that politicians which they may have previously respected, such as Sam Brownback, appear to have chosen to side with the foreign nationals rather than their own constituents.

And I hope you are taking action.

First and foremost, register as an activist with numbersusa.com

The illegal aliens have spoken out for what they want in the demonstrations.

The American people must now let the politicians know what WE want. We must let them know by calling their offices on the phone. We must let them know by sending them faxes. We must let them know by visiting their district offices and speaking to their staff.

And most of all, we must let them know at the ballot box.

When 80% of the people want one thing then that is probably not a law that needs changing. A government by the people should be by the people not by the loudest whiners.....like I said you want to change the rules in the MIDDLE of the game to suit yourself..what about the others playing the game by the rules, I suggest you quit thinking about yourself and what you want and think about what is right. Excuse me, but I don't believe that "80% of the people want one thing" is a sufficient justification to silence debate on an issue. In fact, I would venture that debate can only be really silenced when 100% of people want one thing, and even then it is suspect. Or maybe I'm just old-fashioned about free speech and the benefits of debate.
