Immigration Madness

There is only one group of people with less credibility on the immigration issue than Washington politicians. It is the illegal immigrants protesting violations of their "rights" while parading the Mexican flag and disrespecting the one symbolizing the great nation from which they're demanding favors.

I'm not talking about all demonstrators in every city in which a march occurred. Some were reportedly peaceful and even patriotic. But the hostility of some protestors did more to galvanize apathetic Americans into demanding action on immigration than all the previous alarm-warnings from politicians and pundits combined.

Nothing awakens the sleeping giant like direct threats to her sovereignty and security. And it was hard not to feel violated by the outrageous spectacle of people making demands on the very system they have circumvented instead of demonstrating some humility, if not contrition.

On the other hand, it's not hard to understand their attitude, given our shameful negligence concerning the integrity of our border and the rule of law. We hardly have clean hands either, considering our enforcement laxity and our Faustian bargain to reap the fruit of the poisonous tree by exploiting the cheap labor illegals provide. We don't even have enough respect for our laws to call violators "illegals," insisting on the euphemism undocumented workers.

What better way to eliminate government handouts than to make them unsustainable?

Your strategy is to break our economy and destroy our nation in order to save it? Fascinating.

My "problem" with your quote...is that you did write it in post number 215.

Then...... in post number 241, you denied it.

US doesn't have space for illegals or all legals who apply to this country. Statue of Liberty "bring us all your poor....." is not request of US, but France.Immigrants are only welcome if invited by US. We must also take applications from the worlds Refugees. Mexicans are getting more than their share of US citizenships with false documents and nepotism, smuggling.

Just because Mexican claims to be legal, is not true. US did not sanction 50 million legal Mexicans that have come here in past five years. Documents Fraudaulent. All Mexicans documents must be investigated for FRAUD and DEPORTED if not US authorized.

US can change Laws if they become UNFAIR to US citizens. This Mexican immigrant situation is UNFAIR to US citizens.

Close the borders and start deporting!

Die_Hard, you aren't by any chance Ann Coulter, are you?

If so, hi Ann. You're cute.

That is precisely what Ann was advocating on O'Really's show tonight, much to O'Reilly's indignant protestations.

Our politicians have become so bad that you could make the case that it's a National Security issue to limit the number of days Congress can work so that we might try to limit the amount of damage they can do to the Republic, our sovereignty, and our bank accounts.

Or perhaps the National Security issue to have them all incarcerated so we can get some fresh perspective with new elections!

"Using the power of the state to FORCE the people of the United States to pay for the upkeep of the entire world isn't what my forefathers fought for."

Then we should get rid of welfare and social security. I concur. I'm sorry if your forefathers fought because they disliked foreigners, but I prefer to think that mine fought because they thought that freedom ought to be universal.

"So, citizenship, a border, and the very concept of a "nation" is merely arbitrary to you. Glad we have that out of the way."

Yeah, I'll argue that they're arbitrary. Did you "earn" your US citizenship? Your place of birth? Those whom you consider to be a part of your nation?

and the results are so horrible that you want to build a wall with our southern border?

Tell me, why not with our northern one? Shouldn't we guard all the fronts ;)

Oh my goodness. Best of luck to you. Jorge is all over the board. I can't figure him out.

It hurts me to read posts like this.
What's so hard to understand about my positions?

"There are better ways to end the welfare state than to bring the country down with it."

It's a bit hard to see how one could do that without the support of a public that is hopelessly dependent on handouts. I do wish we could simply get a bill through Congress to that end, but something tells me that Frist wouldn't have it.

Right on the head... hammer+nail=point well-driven!
Smack down on the illegal apologists!

They are trying to confuse the issue of legal vs illegal immigrants. They condone law-breaking. If they can't get their way through feigning moral outrage, they aim to get it through force, in-your-face, in-the-street demonstrations and yes if necessary they will get violent. We haven't seen anything yet.
