Mike Gravel must be Stoned
Democrat announces for President, '08
Leaving no stone unturned, Mike Gravel (D-Alaska) has announced he is running for the 2008 democratic nomination for president... yes, already!
Apparently he thinks he is a McGovern redux with his stance against the war in Iraq and that this stance will make him "special" amongst the Democratic field. But, he is worse than McGovern in many ways, which is GOOD for the GOP. One of his past pet ideas, for instance, was a "citizen's wage", a guaranteed annual income of $5,000 a person mandated by the Federal Government regardless whether that person had a job or not.
He was a senator from Alaska from 1969 until his defeat in 1980 . Gravel nominated himself for the Vice Presidency at the Democratic national convention in 1972, which is amusing since such nominations are done by others, not the candidate. There is also some evidence that he spoke before a Holocaust-denier's organization in 2003.
Yes, this is an "A" number one nut job, folks, and we could but pray that his is the face the Democrats put forward in this time of war!
To vote Democratic is voting to lose the war, raise your taxes, and destroy the economy and this guy would lead that charge. I only lament that he will be laughed at as much as, if not more, than was Dennis Kucinich. Unfortunately, it is doubtful whether the Democrats will reveal their true stance against our security by running someone as anti-war as this nut-job.
But, I want to here announce that I am supporting Mike Gravel's run for the Democratic nomination for president for 2008!
GET STONED WITH GRAVEL, MAN!
(politely trying to refrain from snickering)
Another delusional leftist heard from.
Well I think that's very sexist of you not to include Pebbles, Wilma and Betty! ;-)
I was thinking of Dennis Kucinich when I posted this story too. He'll fade away just like him.
He's locked up Pat Buchanan's vote.
possibly, we cant take anything for granite.
Actually, he didn't make it that far. Avenging his grandfather's loss to Gravel in the '68 'Rat primary, Clark Gruening upended Gravel in '80. Murkowski would then defeat Gruening.
When I saw the news alert this morning that a 'Rat had declared for '08 and I saw it was the nutty Gravel, I was laughing about it all day. ;-)
Drudge Report says he supports the Fair Tax. Comments?
Yep. And guess who was running for Mayor of Anchorage this year? None other than Jack Frost. Only in Alaska...
He must think Kerry and Hill don't stand a chance of getting the nomination. Wide open field and he's getting in early.
Sorry to say that I have heard of him. I remember voting against him at every turn. Typically Democrat, he never did anything. He just protested everything anyone else was doing. Luckily, we turned him outbefore he could do too much harm to the State of Alaska, or the nation.
That's right I remember now. The moron indeed did not make it past the primary. I think he lost to a 33 year old.
Yeah, in an announcement like this, you have to first go digging for the nutcase factor.
Gravel should've been a one-term wonder, but Watergate carried his butt across to a 2nd term in '74. What's interesting to note is that Gravel was considered one of the most hated members of the Senate, nevermind that the GOP didn't care for him, most of his fellow Democrats despised him even more, since he was most of the most audacious and unapologetic opportunists.
Good grief, talk about yesterday's news. What'll the Democrats do next, dig up LBJ?
Don't believe everything you read.

In June of 2003, Gravel gave a speech on direct democracy at a conference hosted by the Barnes Review, a journal that denies the Holocaust [2]. Gravel later explained he did not know the nature of the group at the time he spoke there and spent only 30 minutes at the event. "You better believe I know that six million Jews were killed. I've been to the Holocaust Museum. I've seen the footage of General Eisenhower touring one of the camps ... They're nutty as loons if they [Carto's group] don't think it happened ... Anyone who denies the Holocaust is patently off their rocker it's a ridiculous position ... and the idea that the [documentary] films were a hoax is just bullshit," Gravel clarified in an interview with Politics1.com.[3].
