CBS) Although Americans believe they are better informed about Islam than they were five years ago, a new CBS News poll finds fewer than one in five say their impression of the religion is favorable.
Forty-five percent of respondents queried April 6 - 9 said they have an unfavorable view of Islam, a rise from 36 percent in February. And the publics impression of Islam has diminished even more compared with four years ago. In February 2002 less than six months after the terrorist attacks of September 11 the country was evenly divided in its impression of Islam.

Man, what is it with people's views of Mormons, it's almost the same as Islam? What have they done to deserve this?
One more observation of how clueless CBS is - Muslims don't CARE how we feel about them. You get the feeling that our press is trying to send a warning to Islam - "hey guys, tone it down a little bit - your poll numbers are slipping".
Likewise...remember a few years back when the Saudi Embassy in Washington ran TV ads, saying that they were a partner in the WOT?
The same exists for Saudi Arabia. The more you learn, the less you like them.
So the average citizen isn't as stupid as the PC Elites
think. Just tonight Bob Schieffer and the SeeBS Nooz was
again playing kissy-kissy with these wretched fanatics
(who were, of course, smiling and making nicey-nice for the
infidels). People aren't falling for it; their actions
speak for themselves.
That's such a funny, typical liberal sentence. "Although" Americans are better informed. How about BECAUSE Americans are better informed?? Idiots. They just don't get it.
Why are we assuming a poll is right much less a CBS one ?
You have to ask? That's the beauty of it, a single word "although" is enough to reveal their bias, which I bet was also in the wording of questions they asked and how they asked them.
Why do more Americans dislike Scientology then Islam? When is the last time a Scientologist committed mass murder in the name of his space alien Gods?
I recently sent an email to the WH that I'm feeling lied to. Not about WMD, but that Islam can coexist with democracy. This crap of calling for the death penalty for someone that commits the "crime" of converting to Christianity is outrageous. Where are the death penalty opponents on this?
I'm curious how one could gauge the ratings of "Christian Fundamentalism." Nobody can even decide what that is. Is Billy Graham a Fundamentalist? How about Franklin Graham? Al Mohler? Pat Robertson? Adrian Rogers? Charles Stanley? Jerry Falwell? John McArthur? Does it refer to a certain distasteful belligerent mindset or to old school Protestant beliefs?
Sorry about the triple. At least they are consistent.
Query this, mohammed.
That's exactly my thought too.
Notice that the results you cite refer to the religion, not to the adherents to it. I've known several Mormons and each one of them is a great guy, the sort you would want as a neighbor and a co-worker. But the religion is another matter. It is a strange mishmash of biblical teaching combined with the imaginative but unconnected-to-reality musings of a young Joseph Smith. The result is an obstacle to the clear teaching of salvation through repentance and acceptance of Christ's atonement for our sins, for those caught up in the mormon web. :-(
Sorry about the triple. At least they are consistent. Here's hoping this isn't a double.
Well, it is the 80% that gives the 20% a bad name.
They got the Mexicans to cut back on carrying Mexican flags, so maybe they think they now need to help the muzzles get better PR, too.
Since it is CBS and they are typical shills for the muzzles, the numbers are likely much worse than they are showing.
