Rudy Giuliani better hope that a new documentary on his mayoralty, "Giuliani Time," never makes it to cineplexes in Iowa, New Hampshire and other presidential battlegrounds. The two-hour film, which debuts May 12, casts Giuliani not as the hero of 9/11 - the role that won him acclaim as America's Mayor - but rather as the iron-fisted ruler of a city where children went hungry, the poor were forgotten and many city cops were racists.

Good Lord... I am not a Giuliani fan, but he was a great mayor. I was in college in NYC when Giuliani was elected... the upper west side was cleaned up almost overnight. Business boomed, crime plummeted, and he was a great leader on 9/11. I would never vote for him for President, but he was a great mayor.
I think you put a question mark in there by mistake.
Oh no ..not racist cops...do they really hate white people a lot?
But that's EVERY Republican! Why should Rudy be any different? These disgusting, vile people would would smear Michael Moore if he was a registered Republican but held the same views he had today (God forbid!)
Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton adds his two cents, saying that "the great failing" of Giuliani was his inability "to put himself in [the] shoes" of the city's vast immigrant population.
Sounds like they think he was a failure because he "could not feel their pain". It should be proper for a public official to not show racial preference, but not in their movie!
Rudy has no chance of winning the primaries. The rats can trash him all they want it won't make any difference.
Of course they will smear anyone who runs. That is normal for them. The real problem is when we smear our own.
The Left has a lot in common with some Republicans re: Giuliani.
Basically portray him as they do all Republicans then?
Those racist cops-including the much-maligned Street Crimes Unit-were responsible for the most significant drop in crime rates in neighborhoods like Bushwick, East Flatbush, Flatlands, Brownsville, etc., that this city had seen in three decades.
Contrast that with the tenure of the hapless David N. Dinkins, where over 2,000 homicides per annum were recorded, many of the victims African-American, or Hispanic.
Heather McDonald had a spectacular essay dispelling the left wing Norm Siegal/Al Sharpton-generated claptrap in The City Journal a few years ago.
Everyone should read it, in my opinion.
Rudy doesn't stand a prayer of getting the nomination anyway.
See Lieberman, Democrat Primaries, 2004. That's about the size of it.
Sure. But be realistic, you think the right isn't ready to smear and and all democrats that run? Politics is a pretty rough gig.
Any left-wing crank can make a "documentary", which consists of a lot of clips joined by bullcrap in order to make a person look bad. Case in point, Michael Moore.
"you think the right isn't ready to smear and and all democrats that run?"
I wouldn't smear a Democrat. I'd simply tell the truth, and the Democrats would call it a smear.
Rudy has a lot more support among Repubs then Lieberman has with the dems.
That's why we win and they don't.
There are New Yorkers who STILL miss the old Times Square(where "Taxi Driver" was shot).
Bingo! We tore Bush 41 down from the inside and ended up with clintoon for 8 years. I can't believe people are willing to do the same thing again a mere decade later. The self-righteousness astounds and depresses me.
Yep, hookers, pimps, drug dealers, and the ex-owners of porn house.
Ideas, intelligent discussion of issues, visions for America all take a back seat to their smearing.
