POLITICAL directors of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany will meet in Moscow next Wednesday to discuss the Iranian nuclear crisis, China's UN envoy said today.

Wang Guangya said he had been told by Beijing that the meeting would bring together senior officials from Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States in the Russian capital.

Since when is france a "major power"? Last I checked, they surrendered to street thugs and were fast on their way to becoming part of the caliphate.

Since China and Russia have been helping Iran, I fail to see how this is good news. France and Germany have, in the past, been willing to help keep them supplied with weapons and technology, too.

That doesn't leave too many parties actually interested in stopping Iran, does it?

I think China flipped today, but Russia is still sympathizing. The dance with the uranium hexaflouride musta freaked out the Chi-coms. It did me.

Since they have nuclear weapons, and have indicated that they will use them as a matter of published policy.

As much as the Russians have been cheerleading this on, I wouldn't be a BIT surprised if they are semi-secretly trying to find a way to stop Iran.

China is the one I worry about.

They are in the Nuke club, and will gladly turn their weapons on Israel once the caliphate becomes the legal government of France, which will be the rioters next demand now that the existing government has shown a total willingness to capitulate to their demands thus far.

well that's a given...

but Russia still isn't suicidal. As much as they love twisting our tails for their profit, they don't want those maniacs with nukes anymore than we do.

It's a cyclic thing. They've made their money on Iran by selling their arms and all that (same with China) but now that Iran is able to bite back, they want to be on the side of the "Good Guys"

I see your point, but I think both have gone too far. They will reap what they sew. Commie is as commie does. Who's the FReeper with the byline "Kill a commie for mommy"? I love that.

Given the French goverment's recent capitulations, I would expect France to use their nuclear weapons on themselves.

"Given the French goverment's recent capitulations, I would expect France to use their nuclear weapons on themselves." Even the mediots have remarked about the constraint shown by the Paris Police. France, Germany, and Italy all have severe economic issues. The additional pressures of Iran shutting off some of the oil, and demands from their people to restore economic socialism; would cause these governments to go medieval in policy with modern (including nuclear) weaponry. And they will blame America while demanding another Marshall Plan bailout.

On a more pertinent note, does anybody remember the last time that China called an emergency session or unscheduled meeting of the UNSC? The PRC is not known for being reactionary. Central planning with multiple contingencies is more their style. They had already summoned the Saudi's and received the guarantees. It almost seems like PRC is going to propose Chinese peacekeeping/advisory forces in Iran, or the Strait.

"Meanwhile, Iran is laughing at us!"

Maybe because we are the only one afraid of them and they want to goad us into action?
