Groups help organize immigration rallies

They invoke the names of Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez, but the hundreds of thousands of immigrants who have marched nationwide are not following one charismatic leader.

Instead, they're loosely guided by Hispanic advocacy groups, churches and labor unions - organizations that have helped transform isolated campaigns in major cities into a broad movement with a coordinated strategy.

"There is no one leader, and that's a good thing," said Nativo Lopez, president of the Mexican-American Political Association, a central organizer of rallies in Southern California. "It's a shared leadership among people who we don't even always know."

What began with a national organizational meeting just two months ago has resulted in unions blanketing workers with fliers at hotels, restaurants and stores, Roman Catholic churches accelerating their campaign of preaching to immigrants and pressuring politicians, and Hispanic community leaders working with radio deejays to give protesters detailed instructions: wear white, remain peaceful and be positive. And when marchers were criticized for carrying Mexican flags, organizers quickly spread the word to carry U.S. flags instead.

I love that picture. What are the chances of getting it on the cover of a national publication?

Cardinal Mahony, and all his fellow travellers, are apparently ignoring the doctrine of the Church in order to advance their own secular marxist agenda.

You best check the policy of the US Conference of Catholic bishops.

The US Bishops support an earned legalization program, and have, since 2003.

And John Paul II did as well.

I'll stick with Church teaching, as in the quote from the Catechism above. Hopefully, Benedict will show more common sense, and will reign in these fools (but I am not holding my breath). At the end of the day, all we can do is pray, and then leave it in the hands of God (well, we can also whine and complain a lot too!!).

The Catechism does not rule out earned legalization programs, which is why Benedict will say nothing about the US Bishops' policy.

No, it does not rule out a great many things. However, if we pass an "earned legalization program" like Mahony and the other marxists are pushing, it will simply invite more abuse than it has already caused. Once we reward the illegal aliens for cheating, breaking our laws, and jumping to the head of the line, we will teach everyone else south of the border that they should follow suit. These people are swarming over the border not so much to get a better life for themselves, but to grab the free welfare goodies from the United States government that the Supreme Court is forcing us to provide. If we cut off the free housing assitance, medical treatment, and public education to the illegals (things which most U.S. citizens can't even obtain!!), how many of them would simply turn around and go back home on their own accord?? If you give something away for free, people will show up from miles around to take you up on it. If these illegals worked as hard building up Mexico, and making it a better place to live, as they do sneaking in here and sponging off our welfare system, and contributing nothing in return, Mexico would soon become a "paradise" which would rival the United States. But I digress.

I fear you are correct. Benedict will probably not see it this way, and as such will either do nothing, or will come down on Mahony's side. However, even if he does, that still doesn't make it right.

That ousted, arrogant sack of lard (and that's just the "hairdo"!) actually spewed that? Amazing.

The quote I used came straight out of the article:

"There is no one leader, and that's a good thing," said Nativo Lopez, president of the Mexican-American Political Association, a central organizer of rallies in Southern California. "It's a shared leadership among people who we don't even always know."
(and that's just the "hairdo"!)

Rumor has it he uses Crisco to achieve that look.
