The new 'Republicans vote on Wednesday' game (FR mentioned)
Townhall.com ^ | April 12, 2006 | Dustin Hawkins

Posted on 04/12/2006 1:07:47 PM PDT by Political Junkie Too

We’ve all seen the e-mail sent out days before an election: “Democrats vote on Tuesday, Republicans vote on Wednesday. Don’t forget to vote! Wink, wink.” Or vice versa. Republicans can be just as juvenile. Generally speaking, such “friendly reminders” are sent as a joke, which then may or may not actually trick a few people. Probably those who are tricked are better off not voting anyway, but that is another point altogether. (In case you haven’t voted recently, everyone votes on Tuesday.)

But there seems to be a new “Republicans vote on Wednesday” taking form in time for the 2006 election. This effort targets grassroots conservatives known for their passionate views about issues who may be open to a grassroots voting rebellion. But the effort is being led, or at the very least aided, by liberals pretending to be grassroots conservatives, as opposed to actual grassroots conservatives themselves.

[snip]

But the pretend-conservative act is being carried onto a whole new playing field, one that has become wildly influential over the past few years and one that does not stand to be instantly recognized as a fake. That playing field is the blogosphere, which is then used in conjunction with massive e-mailings to “spread the word” (as one e-mailer insisted I do to my readers/e-mail list) to other conservatives.

The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have “had it with Republicans.”

It is interesting to see many of the same Bush haters mouthing the same bs before the 2000 election and still mouthing the same bs now.

Right on this very thread.

Bottom line , is there is no depth you will not go to to lock the New Majorityites in to power long-term, no matter what their agenda is or how it mirrors the dems in the many ways you refuse to acknowledge or even discuss..

The sad irony will be that Tom will get a lot more votes from conservatives and republicans as well than aRnie.

you know that is a low blow, onyx, making a broad brush statements and impugning a bunch of folks as bush bashers. amazing.

you have been rapping on folks whom are no longer here and imlying some are still here today , Im just saying fair is fair, if you are saying on threads that others should ping folks when they are being talked about, why shouldn't that apply for anyone on this current thread as well. I wasn't around before 200 and I wasn't bashing bush at any point but I see a double standard in my eyes being applied, is all Im saying.

Folks who think we are gonna be any better off under one regime versus another need to be called out on it , when certain facts indicate otherwise based on performance. I don't think anyone deserves a free pass just becuz they say he or she is one of us,, we operate on anonymity here, so its easy for folks to be fooled or cutdown here over what amounts to bad logic or subterfuge , however subtle or mean spirited it is, imo.

don't you agree?

Thank you for providing an illustration of what the author of this article is talking about.

...This time on a national thread, not just CA.

I invite anyone to visit the CA threads and see for yourself how the DICCs lambast every freeper and every official who tries to fight the Democrats.

This thread is a perfect example of their methods, accusing FairOpinion of being the disruptor!

Democrats in Conservative Clothing

there is a good chance we can keep the CA governorship in Republican hands. :)

Arnold is not a Republican.

No point in pinging afers -- they're trashing FR on their imitation forums.

Did you look at the linked thread?

IF you did, you would see that discourse was civil, yet forceful. I spotted names of GOOD people who are still here fighting the good fight, and scant few who aren't here anymore for reasons of which I can only guess.

You and I do not agree on several elected officeholders and candidates, but we have always been respectful and civil, knowing we're on the basic same side.

I didn't bother to take issue with posters on this thread with whom I strongly disagree because I am not in the mood to restate our differences. Some mindsets are cemented, including mine.

I'll always vote for the Republican over a democrat and sometimes it's a matter of voting AGAINST the democrat.

Please name and ping those people you consider to be "DICCs" and supply links to support your contention.

From what I have seen, this term has been used to defame good conservative freepers who OPPOSE LIBERALISM, no matter the party label. Whether big-spending, liberal judges, or environmental whackoism, liberalism is liberalism and something I thought all good freepers would oppose.

Is speaking out against those things is not acceptable to you if the party taking those actions has an (R) by their name?

civil yet forceful ,, for now, lol

and likely, we will continue to have our differences.

re: I didn't bother to take issue with posters on this thread with whom I strongly disagree because I am not in the mood to restate our differences.

I just think that selective application of the ping or no ping rule is a bit untidy for new folks and folks who are not present to defend themselves.
