The new 'Republicans vote on Wednesday' game (FR mentioned)
Townhall.com ^ | April 12, 2006 | Dustin Hawkins

Posted on 04/12/2006 1:07:47 PM PDT by Political Junkie Too

We’ve all seen the e-mail sent out days before an election: “Democrats vote on Tuesday, Republicans vote on Wednesday. Don’t forget to vote! Wink, wink.” Or vice versa. Republicans can be just as juvenile. Generally speaking, such “friendly reminders” are sent as a joke, which then may or may not actually trick a few people. Probably those who are tricked are better off not voting anyway, but that is another point altogether. (In case you haven’t voted recently, everyone votes on Tuesday.)

But there seems to be a new “Republicans vote on Wednesday” taking form in time for the 2006 election. This effort targets grassroots conservatives known for their passionate views about issues who may be open to a grassroots voting rebellion. But the effort is being led, or at the very least aided, by liberals pretending to be grassroots conservatives, as opposed to actual grassroots conservatives themselves.

[snip]

But the pretend-conservative act is being carried onto a whole new playing field, one that has become wildly influential over the past few years and one that does not stand to be instantly recognized as a fake. That playing field is the blogosphere, which is then used in conjunction with massive e-mailings to “spread the word” (as one e-mailer insisted I do to my readers/e-mail list) to other conservatives.

The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have “had it with Republicans.”

I see these faux conservatives all the time on FR. They normally post things like :

"(enter conservative candidate name here) Can't Win"

and

"Vote for (enter liberal Republican name here); They are better than (enter rabid leftist opponent name here)."

dearest delusional FO;

Why don't you name names or is just pinging certain people here your way of doing a McCarthy-like thrust to the chest of those you wish to call out and then stitch a faux C on their chest?

How Cynthia McKinneyish of you to play that little 'race card' and how cheap, I might add, as well.

You and many others might want to think twice about how some who are posting on this thread are just as willing to support moderate candidates who stick it to all of us and with much glee, I might add.

Certainly, subterfuge by any means available has always been on the table for some here who both try and appear supportive of conservatism and also work as hard as they can to cast aspersions on those who seek to reveal moderate supporters like you and others for their own disingenuous 'work' here.. Some have raised it to an artform almost, others are clumsy at best, mean spirited and vindictive at worse. The end game is to make FR a moderate forum, imo, the decay is evident and sadly, even some old-timers get caught up in it, it would seem.

btw, If you wish to post specifics of emails and blog entries , Please do so, if you have any. I doubt it, you're always quick to run and hide when confronted with facts that refute your own offerings and then we get the old if you don't vote for a RINO you voting for the other side. What a reach, imo..

Or are you, as usual, only seeking to cover your own pitiful support for the New Majorityites and a lukewarm conservatism if it could even be considered such, who when viewed closely have their own liberal agenda under the guise of a new brand of "enlightened inclusive" Republicanism and note how their Trojan Horse candidates spew hype and then stab the conservative movement in the back with global warming talk and backing the continued importation and use of illegals workers, and also manage to be for minimum wage increases, domestic partners legislation, and land grabs, etc.

I am so tired of seeing the same folks who willingly swill away on this moderate pap that is dished out by you and a few others here and quite readily so it seems, and then can only laugh when you recoil in shock when confronted for their own lack of understanding or even a willingness to look at the facts and not to fall for all the blather some like you project.

Maybe what Jim posted a few days ago about this being a conservative forum just doesn't or won't get thru to you and some here, so be it. You're so deep into your schtick here now, to leave would just confirm for all what and who you really are all about and it certainly isn't about conservatism, imo, as your undying support for the Gub displays with almost every post in California threads.

No matter how many gays or green get appointed, how much he borrows or porposes to, he can do no wrong. Like I said on other threads, make sure ya get a nice pic of you and the gUb with McCain and get it signed so you can post it here to shwo how you have arrived. I , for one, won't be surprised to see it and I am not alone in that sentiment.

There are three, significant liberals running for governor of California in 2006. Unfortunately one is a registered Republican.

I don't recommend or support and will not vote for Angelides, Westly or Schwarzenegger. Voting for a liberal is, in fact, a vote for a liberal.

Liberalism is not going to solve California's problem. Davis and Schwarzenegger are excellent examples of why placing liberals in positions of authority is simply stupid. Not ignorant, but stupid.

Is that why you are promoting that people should vote for Angelides, because you consider him a conservative?

--

You are a disgusting example of why some folks have left FR as they tire of stupid statements like that.

You shoud be banned for being nothing more than a disruptor.

" don't recommend or support and will not vote for Angelides, Westly or Schwarzenegger. "

===

In other words, you are promoting that conservatives should vote third party, to help the Dems win.

Thank you for providing an illustration of what the author of this article is talking about.

Some folks "left" FR, because they were banned, because they were agitating for the Dems.

That's all you have to say. WEhy am I not surprised?

Your view is always anyone who isn't with you and your candidate, good or bad, is working for the dems, how insightful and illuminative of your narrow ability to reason much of anything by yourself.

You are the ultimate Bot.

Here's a point to consider.

The constant repetition of partisan pleadings is not helping the partisan cause. Change those pleadings to themes based on facts and philosophy and the partisan cause might gain support.

Continue to place party loyalty over political principle and both will suffer.

Dustin "gets" liberals. They did it on radio until Rush caught them and now they're here...

In other words, you are promoting that conservatives should vote for whomever they please but political philosophy should remain central to their choice.

A liberal will be the next governor of California. A distinct majority of the blame for that tragedy rest upon the shoulders of the California Republican Party who could have said NO to the Wilsonegger gang, but instead, capitulated the party and their soul.

I welcome the FairOpinion account on this forum. The FairOpinion account has been a wealth of information. The FairOpinion account releases CRP campaign strategy to this forum sometimes weeks ahead of its release to the MSM.

This forum, thanks to the FairOpinion account, knew weeks in advance that Schmidt was going to stress a comparison between Schwarzenegger and his perceived threat, Angelides. I will be listening to the FairOpinion account if Westly wins the Democrat primary to keep abreast of Schmidt's latest gambit.

Keep your enemies close. Welcome them to your campfire and then listen carefully.

Yes, we get it:

"But the pretend-conservative act is being carried onto a whole new playing field, one that has become wildly influential over the past few years and one that does not stand to be instantly recognized as a fake. That playing field is the blogosphere, which is then used in conjunction with massive e-mailings to “spread the word” (as one e-mailer insisted I do to my readers/e-mail list) to other conservatives.

The concept is the same: the blog or e-mail claims, first, that the said writer has been a conservative for years and that they have “had it with Republicans.” They then point to an issue that conservatives would likely be upset about such as excessive spending, immigration, or the expansion of government. Their supposed rage over the issue has convinced them to either not show up to vote in 2006, or, in order to really show Republicans, vote for the Democrat instead. "

Bottom line, you are trying to get conservatives to stay home, vote for a third party, or even vote for a Democrat.

Read my tag line: "Real Conservatives don't help Dems get elected"

OR conversely, anyone who promotes actions that help Dems, is NO conservative.

Promoting that conservatives stay home, vote third party, by bashing Republicans and trying to make it appear that they are no different from Dems are all despicable tricks of those, of whom the author speaks, DICCs.

Actually the CRP takes its cues for strategy from my posts. ;)

Yes we know, the "real conservative thing to do according to Norm is to elect leftists Democrats, that'll show the California Republican party"

I don't mind you cutting off your nose, to spite your face, but I strenously object you trying to cut off the noses of all of us.

It's either that, or you are also an example of what the author is talking about.

What do you mean "screwed up"?

Despite the best efforts of the Dems and pretend-conservatives, there is a good chance we can keep the CA governorship in Republican hands. :)

You don't think the CRP is screwed up? That right there tells me a lot.

I guess you're happy with the last Boxer/Jones Senate race?
And the current absence of a strong campaign to take on Feinstein?
And NO republican backed in the Los Angeles mayoral campaign?

Well, yep. Things are just Dandy cuz we got Arnie!
