Send this with it...

U.S Constitution

Art. I, Sec. 8

"The Congress shall have the Power To...provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress insurections and repel Invasions..."

Art. IV, Sec. 4

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion..."

Art. VI., par. 3

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution;..."

U. S. Senate Oath of Office

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

U. S. House of Representatives Oath of Office

"I, ..., do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

You want votes? You want money? Do your damned duty! Secure the borders and get the illegal aliens out.

Just like your letters and faxes. A tick goes next to your name in the database and you get a standard form letter in reply.

(sarc)Letter writing campaigns have worked SO well so far haven't they? (/sarc)

That's what I was thinking. Come on folks! Most of us have a few extra lying around in the yard, and three is all it will take: one for each Senator and one for the CongressCritter.

This brick thing is just a prank, and will be completely ignored.

I disagree. Given the way conservatives historically rally to a cause, I anticipate two or three postal workers will be quite pleased to receive blocks to assist in auto repair. :-)

"A well-written letter would be a far better idea."

Geeeez...talking 'bout being naive!! OUR POS's don't read mail...their office flunkies (aka; staffers) read mail.

Send a Brick to Congress

I'd vote for a brick.

I'm in for 3. One for each member of my immediate family.

Maybe we could all get together here at FR, buy a couple truckloads from Home Depot right there in DC and just have them delivered to the lawn out front.

I'd be hesitant to send anything firearms related. It's way too easy to interpret it as a threat. The cinderblocks sounds like a good idea, but I'm betting UPS refuses to deliver them after about a day. The congressional mailroom will refuse to accept them, and so UPS will refuse to carry them.

$100 will get you about 20 bags of my fecal matter... let me know when you're ready to deal...

as for the bricks... good idea... bad logistics... perhaps they should be hand delivered to the representatives now vacationing in their home districts...

I love this idea, but wonder if it WILL have an effect. If Limbaugh or O'Reilly, or someone of that nature, got behind the idea, they could stir up the publicity that is needed to keep it from being ignored.

The way to make this work is to hit the radio talk shows with the idea and the web address. I have a direct pipeline to several hosts in Alabama. They will jump all over this. It is the perfect metaphor for building the wall. It is a way for productive Americans to participate in a protest without having to leave their jobs. We need all Freepers to call this idea in repeatedly to every talk show in the Country. Eventually the Print and Television will follow. I'm in for 5 bricks, one for each member of my family.

Then let UPS know that there are alternatives to their service if they don't want your business. They won't refuse. If you own a business that uses UPS like I do, you know how you can push them around with a threat like that.

Very shortly, the plan would be discovered, and the intended recipients would never see the packages.

They may never SEE the bricks, but if enough are sent, they will definitely hear from someone about the fact that bricks keep showing up, especially if we all send them to one or two select Congressmen.

I think the Brick/cinderblock approach is better. I REALLY like the Cinderblock.

They're big, heavy and pretty near useless unless they decide to build that wall.

If this sites goes up, I will send SEVERAL.

PLEASE .... DO IT!!!!!!

If I gave my credentials on this subject you would understand that I know what I'm talking about. THIS WILL MAKE A STATEMENT THE MEDIA CAN'T IGNORE.
of course many of the bricks will not make it but that's not the point. If several hundred do, BAM you have a protest. You just have to be willing to sign your name to the package and talk to reporters if they call.
