In some London boroughs, for instance, it has taken over from Cockney, the prevailing accent for generations, as inner-city white youths pick up the speech patterns of their black and Asian classmates. More than four out of ten London residents are now from ethnic minority backgrounds. Same thing has been going on in New York for some time. Brooklynese and Bronxese have been replaced by a form of Ebonics, spoken by blacks, Latinos, Asians, Arabs, and even the left-over white kids.

On the East Coast, nobody says "ese." The Puerto Ricans and Dominicans would beat up anybody who said that for being a "Mexican." ;-)

But, not in the Tupac Shakur "get my ass shot" sort of way.

My ex-girlfriend during my Seattle sojourn was "Chicana to the bone" from Porterville, CA. Actually a nice girl, and a great kisser, among other things.
Actually, attacks on Mexicans by Dominicans in New York and New Jersey have become quite a problem in that area. Mexicans are looked down upon by other Latinos, especially those who are here on green cards, and hate that los Mojados get a pass...

Even the music is different.
I prefer Reggaeton, and that means I really can't go to Wal-Mart because all they have are Mexican country music. Target has a good Reggaeton selection.
I don't blame the Dominicans for beating up on those guys~!

There are whole stations devoted to reggaeton here in NY. That's because it's now very 'crossover'. Everyone listens to it including me.

Hey Slump Tester, how did you get your name?
I know about concrete slump, but do you specialize in testing how much?

If the Dominican Republic was hooked on to the United States like Mexico they would be pouring in to here also so they have no room to talk.
