Since when did "Republicans" like McCain or Lindsey care about respecting other more conservatives members in their party?

It wasn't about the amendments not receiving a vote. That is a cover story because McCain and the others were embarrassed by not being able to produce the filibuster majority they guarenteed.

It failed because they did have 60 plus votes.

They didn't have 60 plus votes because the idiots on the streets burned our flag and paraded Mexico's down the street. Gotta give them credit. If not for them, the Senate may have had that filibuster Majority. As it is, they were delayed in their goals.

Is the Senate going to come back for amnesty? Yeah, but they are hoping it'll cool a bit and the media will manipulate enough polls to use as cover. They are doing their best to help this along by chastising the protestors and telling them to use American flags. The real question is whether enough Republicans will be spooked by their constituents into filibustering this bill indefinitely. Can we muster 41? If we CAN, then this could conceivably be in trouble. If not, the Senate passes and all pressure is on the House to "compromise". If that's the case, I have doubts they'll hang together.

It's getting to the point where you can only trust 3 people in Washington- Tancredo, Sessions, sessenbrenner. That's it.

Correction: It failed because they did NOT have 60 plus votes.

For the record the bill was renamed today by a Rush caller.

Hence forth it will be called the Guest Voter Act.

It's looking that way; that's why I have to lol at the warnings of voting for a third party.....like my vote for anyone with an R after their name means something....other than Tancredo, Sessions, or Sessenbrenner, that is.

No. The correct term should be the The Illegal Voting Rights Act Of 2006. When all is said and done, its about the votes, stupid.

Does this apply just to all who cross illegally into our country, regardless of origin; or just those from Mexico?

Satirical disdain trumps stuffy officiousness.

Everyone, no questions asked. Heck, NOTHING in this bill disqualifies Osama Bin Laden and a caboodle of Al Qaeda terrorists from obtaining U.S citizenship if they desired to have it.

I think we're at the point where we can't trust the Congress to do the bidding of US citizens anymore. Or the courts. The jury is still out on the President.

Some minor editing with [] and emphasis added:
"It doesn't matter to them [the Democrats]: the poorer, the dumber, the better. They [the Democrats] are so willing to wreck the nation's national security with their [the Democrats] position on the war in Iraq and the war on terror. Now they're [the Democrats] willing to wreck the immigration system with the help of some foolhardy Republicans who for some reason have this fear of alienating these people and making them mad. This is what they're [the Democrats] willing to do in order to get their [the Democrats] power back, hopefully again to never lose it. That's what's inspiring and motivating this, and that's the point that I have been drilling and pounding home all glorious broadcast day."

Again, we do not want to reward their [the Democrats] treachery by allowing them [the Democrats] to get their [the Democrats] power back. They [the Democrats] may never lose it again.

Thanks for the ping, nic. From just reading what is posted here are you sure it wasn't written by the U.N. giving away the US? Unfreakin' believable.

Things just go from bad to worse.
