Silence in the face of an ugly sterotype is not the answer.

Speaking out and letting the school know that you don't think the question was appropriate can't hurt.

Excerpt from my email to the College:

It is extremely offensive to see your college use the name of a prominent black official like our Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in a math problem that uses the racial stereotype of 'blacks and watermelons'. The fact that a 'Federal building' is also mentioned leaves no doubt that the insulting stereotype was directed at her.

In addition, this math problem is an insult to not only Dr. Rice but all black students at Bellevue Community College and especially to those who were required to take this final exam.

Yes, it CAN hurt to speak out. Please note that the only result of this campaign has been to get the university to promise to "redouble" its diversity indocrination. This campaign has backfired bigtime for the freepers who waged it.
