Greeted with loud boos and some cheers, Vice President Dick Cheney threw out the ceremonial first pitch Tuesday at the Washington Nationals’ home opener.

He stood directly in front of the mound and released a ball that hit the dirt in front of home plate. Nationals catcher Brian Schneider scooped it up.

Cheney wore a red-and-blue Nationals jacket that seemed bulky, perhaps filled out by a bulletproof vest. Security agents ringed the top edge of the outdoor stadium.

Does anyone else detect a hint of pure unadulterated hatred and bias in this article?

So was he booed when announced, or when he threw that lame pitch into the dirt? I probably would have booed that noodle arm, too! :-)

But I'll cut him some slack since it's probably worn out from operating the hurricane machine.

Didn't the president throw out the first pitch a couple days back?

Just like crowds at Cincinatti "protested" the PRes.?

How much you want to bet the stadium rocked when the VP walked to the mound?

Well, the reporter was undoubtedly sitting among his peers in the press corps, so that would account for the loud boos.

I didn't find an ounce of bias in the story. The only negative comment was a report on boos. Well, they happened, and they should be reported. Other than that, which sentences could anyone perceive as being biased?

And then he accidently shot the catcher with his hunting rifle.

But most print readers read the headlines and the first paragraph or two. That's why the misleading headline on a story that says the complete opposite.

Actually, no. There were loud boos, some cheers, he bounced the ball in the dirt (these articles ALWAYS note how well the prez or vice prez threw the ball), he visited the players and we had a ball game. Seems like a harmless story to me unless you have evidence the writer made up the boos or the bouncing in the dirt.

I would be very cautious here...

Wasn't it AP that reported that during the campaign, when President Bush announced to a crowd that Clinton was in the hospital with emergency surgery...

that Bush's FANS cheered!

That was WRONG...so hopefully this is wrong...but if not, then I hope the Nationals lose every game this year.

This shouldn't be unexpected since it's a bunch of Rats in Washington who's playing hooky from work or don't have a job to go see a ballgame.
