A far thinking capitalist would remember Rome. The capital gain from short labor is short term if the capitalists become an endangered minority.
Patriotically speaking, and thinking of their own posterity, they are short-sighted... out to lunch. And, I say this as someone who has benefited through the capital markets.
Actually, we live in a world in which rich people can physically remove themselves from contact with the lower orders. Have you seen the ads for a permanently out to sea luxurious cruise ship where rich people never have to touch land ? What an incredible metaphor that is for our age ! Rich people can just divorce themselves from all accountability and the consequences of their actions.
Globalization is fine if you can live behind walls as el jefe.
