IMMIGRATION POLITICS: MARCHING MADNESS (pro-aliens deranged conduct hurting cause)
NY POST ^ | April 11, 2006 | JOHN PODHERETZ

Posted on 04/11/2006 4:46:47 AM PDT by Liz

........the idea that something has to be done about illegal immigration is in part due to politically deranged conduct on the part of those who claim to be working on behalf of illegal aliens. The demonstrations that have drawn hundreds of thousands to the streets in cities across the country in the past few days - are politically incomprehensible.

If their purpose is to influence the political debate in a direction favorable to the interests of illegal aliens, then their organizers are deluded.

The rapidly rising concern about the issue is a clear indication that the first round of demonstrations a few weeks ago, featuring Mexican flags dominating American flags and wild talk about American imperialism, were self-defeating......they are still in violation of the laws of the United States. The more people demonstrate on their behalf, the more the illegality of their actions is highlighted.

Americans are a law-abiding people, and they don't go for that sort of thing.

The demonstrations are the best advertisements possible for the idea that America must get tough on illegal immigrants and tighten its immigration policies.

That's what's so peculiar about these demonstrations. There is no chance on earth that Congress is going to adopt a wildly liberal set of policies on illegal immigration......immigration interest groups and others seem intent on radicalizing the debate, in making it clear to many people.....that the pro-immigrant side is nuts and the anti-immigrant side is more sensible.

Which is why the demonstrations make no sense from a sheerly partisan standpoint either. If they're designed to help the Democratic Party in its pursuit of majority status in the House and Senate in November 2006, then their organizers are profoundly stupid.............

No matter how you slice it, these demonstrations were and are a horrible mistake.

There is something to what he says. Just listening to talk radio over the past few days I've heard several conservatives and even several DEMOCRATS call in and say that they are not happy about George Bush and the Republican Party...BUT they WILL vote for a GOP candidate that is pro-border security. This is starting to rile our base...and the more "in-your-face" the media is about glorifying illegals...the greater the backlash from the conservative base.

Unity at last. This is definitely a consensus issue----other than the cockeyed Teddy and Harry, we have not seem many Dims rah-rah the alien cause.....and most of the Pubbie base is furious.

Seeing thousands of illegals marching in our streets only informs us of just how bad this problem is. It reaffirms that something has to be done, or they wont be our streets anymore.

Americans do not reward people for breaking the law.

The illegal invasion has concentrated the attention of Americans on the nature of democracy and its central bulwark against anarchy---our Constitution and the rule of law.

No question, the deciding factor in killing the amnesty bill were Americans, disgusted at vote-hungry US politicians, all puckered up, ready to assume the Hyphenate-Fellate position for political gain.

Bandying about a bill that treats these drugged-out lawbreakers better than law-abiding US citizens was about as dumb as you can get.

And we can't discount the arrogance of the illegals protesting in the streets. The mental midgets actually believe waving the Mexican flag in our faces helps their case.

Lowlife drug lords, dealers and pushers, lurking behind the scenes, actually told these illegal dupes that Americans are a bunch of suckers, that we would sit still for this atrocity----amnesty bill.

A pity these dumb amnesty pushers didn't factor in that Americans can spot a hidden agenda a mile away.

No one is impressed by this conspiracy of spineless marionettes dancing limply on the strings of corruption, manipulated by the unseen alien horde puppetmasters lurking behind the scenes, ready to pounce on US assets.

Instead, the immigration interest groups and others seem intent on radicalizing the debate, in making it clear to many people who aren't yet committed to one side or the other on this issue that the pro-immigrant side is nuts and the anti-immigrant side is more sensible.

It isn't a matter of being pro- or anti- immigrant. It's a matter of being anti-illegals. Even Podhoretz slouches into this imprecise language that smears the fundamental point.

If they want to march under the Mexican flag, then we should enforce the rules represented by that flag.

From the constitution of Mexico:

1)Article 33: Foreigners may not participate in the political affairs of the country.

2) Article 32: Mexicans shall have priority over foreigners under equality of circumstances for all classes of concessions and for all employment, positions or commissions of the government in which the status of citizenship is not indispensable.

The sight of 20,000 people marching in downtown red state America carrying a foreign flag is not going to win a political debate. It is going to incite violence I'm afraid.

There could not have been a better snapshot of massive lawbreaking than the illegals gathered together on one day for their moronic march.

They better stick to what they know best, lettuce-picking and lawn-mowing.

BUT they WILL vote for a GOP candidate that is pro-border security.

80% of AMERICAN CITIZENS would vote for a candidate who sealed the borders and cracked-down on illegals!

I have disliked McCain since CFR and when he tried to ban MMA at the behest of his boxing buddies, but this latest debacle just takes the freaking cake.

The rallies, the thousands of american flags .. then topped off with speakers like Ted Kennedy and Hellary Clinton was sooooooooooooooooooooo planned for a PR stunt

I wonder .. who exactly funded those rallies
