OK, one more. Our local TV is now saying that our downtown protest in Houston, which probably has the 2nd largest Hispanic immigrant population, legal or illegal, in the US outside of L.A. (just guessing), had, lol, 7500-possibly 10,000- show up. Maybe all of ours went to ATL or PHO?
I'm not anti-Mexican. Have traveled all over their country, love to cook and eat their native foods, like a lot of their traditions, customs and arts - but I don't want to ever have to speak Spanish in my own country. I don't even have to speak it in theirs-they all want to speak English. Until they get here!
I hear this often as many 'legals' seem more angry than us if it is even possible?
A LEGAL IMMIGRANT who I work with was also very much upset at what he was seeing in DC today. He said he and his immediate family waited a long time to get permission to come here, and they have followed and continue to follow all the rules. He's close to getting his citizenship, looking forward to his first vote as a citizen. He says we should seal the borders, build a wall is A-OK with him. Another suggestion he made is that we bring back the draft - but for border defense force, and that anyone coming into this country - whether it's for a "student" visa, a temporary visit (for attending a family wedding or similar) - must have a sponsor who pays a bond of (his suggestion) $100,000 to guarantee that the "visitor" will leave when his/her visa expires.
I also had a college classmate who came here from Vietnam, who had a good education and very much in demand technical skills. She was unable to get a green card because we already had our quota of Vietnamese. So every year she had to pay some fee to stay here and work.
Now, if only she wasn't such an honest person, she could have done what so many of the illegals are doing... stealing the Social Security numbers of unsuspecting Americans, etc.
