When the Minutemen set up shop at the Arizona border last year to call attention to the illegal alien loophole in US Homeland Security, President Bush foolishly chided these brave patriots by calling them vigilantes. Although chagrined at being deserted by the man who has the constitutional responsibility and authority to defend our borders, the Minutemen dug in their heels and persisted. And persisted.
Their Yankee determination to do the right thing was rewarded when President Bush finally sent additional border patrol agents to Arizona. Even the Mexican government was motivated to pay greater attention, at least temporarily, because of the due diligence of heroic Minutemen.
Before the Minuteman took their courageous stand, open border advocates and anti-American liberals insisted it was impossible to stop illegal immigration. Best to just accept reality, learn Spanish, and switch to rice and beans as food stables, according to the leftists and Hispanic racists.
Thank God, the Minutemen PROVED illegal aliens CAN be stopped, thereby delivering a great victory on behalf of all American citizens.

Spiff is smarter than you are. He gets it, you don't.
Out of context? If you read the press conference transcript IN THE CONTEXT of the fact that the Minutemen were a raging story in the news at the time, it is clear that Bush was talking about the Minutemen. The only way you and a few others can attempt to claim that Bush wasn't talking about the Minutemen is to pretend the CONTEXT did not exist.
I'd say the headache was caused by your attempts to deny the obvious - that Bush was referring to the Minutemen.
Well, I am very negative and even openly hostile to the Minuteman Project too, but I only call vigilantes "vigilantes" : )
We've reached a very strange moment in the immigration debate. On Wednesday President Bush condemned a group of good American citizens worried about the breaking of U.S. immigration law. He condemned the organizers of Project Minuteman as "vigilantes" even though they have broken no law and pledge not to do so. An hour or two later, Mr. Bush welcomed to his Texas ranch a man who insults the United States for its immigration policy and leads a government that routinely flouts U.S. immigration law.
If there is another rational explanation, then it is NOT "obvious" - that word has a very specific definition too.
What are you talking about?
Have you read the actual Bush transcript above?
I call those 500,000 protesters future voters for the democratic party! It's too bad they didn't chose HISPANIC HERITAGE WEEK for their protests.
I'm talking about "jumping the gun" as to what Bush was referring to - also those who would IN FACT AND LAW be "vigilantes" by hunting migrants along the border - the "Shoot First and Ask Questions Later" crowd.
Yes
I vote, illegals don't. I spend my money here , I do not send it back to Mexico. This ain't about racism , no matter how loud they try and shout it so. They are criminals, they know it.
As to my Minutemen....they are just my Neighborhood Watch Program on a road trip.......:o)
!!!
1860: "But without African slaves, who will pick the cotton?
2006: "But without illegal aliens, who will pick the lettuce?
It was wrong then, and it's wrong now!
Stay safe Irish Mike !!
There is only ONE rational explanation if one bothers to look at the leading news of that week, and that was the Minutemen. It was clear who the reporter was referring to with the question and who Bush was referring to with his response in the context of the news. In addition, McClellan refused to clarify or elaborate on Bush's statements. And given that Bush is still spewing some of the typical pro-illegal talking points (doing the work Americans won't do, bring them out of the shadows, yadda, yadda, yadda), his position is consistent with those who view the Minutemen as lawless vigilantes.
So you and a few other folks can try your denial game all you want. But you're only fooling yourselves.
Then you know it is NOT "obvious" that Bush was condemning the organizers of Project Minuteman as "vigilantes". Did you know that the original question was in SPANISH?
You beat me to it.
I "spew" some of the typical pro-illegal talking points but do not view the Minutemen as lawless vigilantes - as long as they obey the law, I just think they are misguided - did you know that the reporter asked the question in SPANISH?
Q. What do you call 500,000 illegal aliens demanding rights?
A. The future.
This is democracy, America. This is what always happens when "the people" become the ultimate power in a given country. We got rid of King George; now, all will bow to King Mob. Vox populi, vox dei.
And what King Mob wants, he gets, or he'll burn your fracking city down. Amnesty is what King Mob will have right now. Later, he'll demand the whole enchilada -- flags, anthems, the works. And there's not a damned thing any of us can do to stop him, so don't even start with that BS.
It won't be all bad. The new order in America won't be like the old order. It'll be a lot more free in some ways, because under the new order, law becomes completely subject to the will of the people. Don't like immigration law? Ignore it. Don't like tax law? Don't file or pay taxes. Don't like driver's licenses? Drive without one. Don't want to carry insurance? Drive without it. After all, what are they going to do -- arrest half a million people? The same goes for licensing laws, zoning regulations, permits, franchises, and fees. A law that cannot be enforced is no law at all. A few bucks slipped under the table to the policeman and the problem goes away. In the New Order, you will be pretty much free to do what you want when you want, as long as you don't cross the local cops, judges, or drug lords. In many ways, it will be a better world.
My advice? Relax. This was inevitable. These are the forces of history in action, not some kind of idiotic political nonsense. Once the Visigoths cross the Danube, it is too late to save the Empire. Don't bother writing letters of protest to your tribunes, quaestors, or senators. They want the Visigoths here -- Romans demand too much in wages. No, the time for political action is over. The guys in togas that you and I elected know as well as you do what it means when a half million people march peacefully through the streets of Rome: it means that King Mob has taken his throne. One wrong move on the part of the Imperial Government and those 500,000 in Rome will put down the banners and flags and pick up spears (Molotov cocktails) and swords (AKs).
And fellas? Don't bother buying ammo, joining the Minutemen, or putting together your own group of Wolverines. You aren't Patrick Swayze and this isn't a movie, and all the violence in the world is not going to stop what is happening here. If you try, you will find that it is YOU that has become the criminal.
No, amigos, now that King Mob has awakened there is only one thing left for us to do. My advice is simple, inexpensive, and will serve you and your family well in the days and years to come. It can be summed up in two words:
Learn Spanish.
If they keep pushing and getting semiviolent? I'd call them targets.
Google the simple phrase--- President Bush calls the Minutemen vigilantes.
You'll get around 82,600 hits.
An arrest warrant??
