# 1 United States held hostage -Immigration laws don't exist solely to protect us from terrorism. There are 11 million "illegals" living, working and having children in the U.S. If they aren't deported and required to go through the immigration process legally, what message does that send to the estimated 56 percent of Mexico's population (according to President Vicente Fox) who also want to come to America? How do we put out the welcome mat to those who have already broken our laws then deny the remaining millions who will be on their way here in the coming years? We can't.

# 2 L.A. mayor picks NFL talks over immigrant boycott-LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Antonio Villaraigosa, Los Angeles' first Latino mayor in the modern era, will skip huge pro-immigration rallies planned for Monday to meet with pro football officials in Dallas, leaving organizers feeling like "a ship without a captain." Oscar Sanchez, an organizer of the Great American Boycott in Los Angeles, said the mayor's office previously told the group he would speak at a downtown Los Angeles rally on Monday -- then backed out.
# 3 Workplaces ready for day without immigrant staff - NEW YORK (Reuters) - From mighty meatpacking plants to tiny taco stands, U.S. businesses are making plans to deal with Monday's nationwide pro-immigration boycott, which could keep millions of people away from their jobs. Contingency plans range from juggling schedules to hiring temporary workers to closing down altogether, companies say.Dozens of companies have sought advice from the Atlanta-based law firm of Jackson Lewis, which specializes in labor issues, said one of its partners, Jonathan Spitz."There's been an awful lot of cooperation by companies and by employees," Spitz said. "No one who has called is looking to fire employees when there are better solutions."
In Arizona, which shares a border with Mexico and has a large immigrant population, construction companies may not know until the last minute who will show up on Monday, according to David Jones, president of the Arizona Contractors Association. He said he expects employers to tolerate absences. "I think employers realize that without a functional guest worker program that we have serious problems," he said.
