Yes, A Really Lousy Week (for Creationism - Dr Dino Going Down)
Scientific American ^ | 8 April 2006

Posted on 04/08/2006 7:15:09 PM PDT by balrog666

Following up on my previous post about how creationists suffered a few setbacks, this news has also come to my attention: the creationist theme park Dinosaur Adventure Land, operated by the prominent evolution denier Dr. Dino (Kent Hovind) and the Creation Science Evangelism ministry, has just been shuttered by the authorities. All of this arises from the church's building without a permit back in 2002. (Here's the ministry's own account of the situation.)

Hey, do you know who that is? I do. Start a thread, and I'll tell you.

"Hey, do you know who that is? I do."

No doubt.

Sixty-Eight straight days (I stopped counting - my browser was getting tired) of fighting those pesky ID'ers and Creationists deserves some sort of DawinCentral badge of honor, don't you think? Carolina - you da man!

If there was a point there, it was underwhelming.

68 days straight? I admire your tenacity. Thing is, you'll find similar habits for all these freaks of the internet.

No passion for the immigration story. No interest in Iraq. No comments on tax policy. No remark on abortion. No curiosity about Supreme Court nominees. No opinion on space policy and NASA. What we have here is a gang of single-issue obsessives.

A little of this evo-fanaticism might add some spice to FR, but these new threads come several a day. There needs to be a quick rout to "FREVO DITCHDIGGING" land, a chat room off in the boonies just for them.

I proudly aver that I came from Pond Scum and proudly aver that I will return to it some day.

Do us all a favor and don't read them then. Nobody is forcing you.

"68 days straight?"

No, actually. He got the numbers wrong. And he left out the non-crevo threads I have been in.

And nobody is forcing you to join/read these threads if you so dislike them. I am sure there are astronaut threads out there waiting for you. Unless they too have jilted you. :)

My whole point was to show how defending Evolution is like a religion to some people. Look at how tenacious you are!

It never fails to amaze me how often anti-evos use religion as a term of derision. The same with faith.

I am tenacious because the truth matters. Truly conservative ideas like low taxes, limited government, and a strong defense have been tarnished by the anti-science wing of the right. It is not conservative to attack science and rational thought.
Anti-evos, if they have their way, will drive conservatism into the political cellar.

I just did a check; of your last 200 posts, about 85% have been on a crevo thread. There's nothing wrong with that; if that is where your interests are. It's a little funny though when you accuse others of spending too much time on the very threads you make most of your posts to.

To the contrary, what scripture says about evolution is that the truth of creation should be obvious to anybody and everybody and has been understood since the beginning.

I don't see where evolution contradicts the truth of creation. Many people certainly throw that slant on it, but I don't see how trying to understand the mechanisms through which God works somehow blocks out His creative power. If anything, it just shows how infinitely intelligent He really is.

I get the impression from scripture that evolution is NOT a strong delusion but an incredibily weak delusion and that only a very rebellious people would fall for it.

The (nearly 100%) of biological scientists that "fall" for it are all rebellious people? I would encourage you to learn more about ERV insertions, ring species, island & continent biogeography, HOX genes, fossil stratification, radiometry, studies of mutation rates, etc. before making such a blanket statement. There is a lot of knowledge on this subject, and these people know what they're talking about; evolution is about putting together a coherent picture of biological evidence, not rejecting God.

Science is not perfect, but it is by far the most perfect method of acquisition of knowledge known to man.

All of this arises from the church's building without a permit

Do they think that because Mexican foreigners know how to operate without permits that it is so easy that Creationists can do it too?
