WASHINGTON, April 7 That President Bush authorized an aide to disclose classified intelligence on Iraqi weapons, as asserted in court papers, comes as no shock to official Washington. The leaking of secrets has long been a favored tool of policy debate, political combat and diplomatic one-upmanship.
"We've had leaking of this kind since the administration of George Washington," said Rick Shenkman, a presidential historian at George Mason University.

I realize this is just another drive-by hit by the Dems/MSM, but this one matters because the end result is to make REAL leaking acceptable.
This one matters a lot.

I disagree. Now is exactly the time to call out the media for their lies. Many of us already know the media is bogus, but the time is now to have those in power start to expedite the already-crumbling facade of the media's credibility.
Personally, I would have booted CBS from the White House after RatherGate. This should have been addressed years ago.

The unwashed masses don't know this, and the Oregonian's front page today is so misleading that I was spitting mad when I saw it. What did it say?

Nope. The top 5 Radio talk show hosts reach more people then the Nightly news. Your "Facts" are about 10 years out of date.

The President declassified the information, as it is his right to do so; there was no leak; there was a disclosure of information as authorized by the President.

"Eagle USA" is another of those "2004" signups who is likely a Democrat troll.
-----
Nice try Spur but far from it. When it comes to a little objectivity, you lose. The only point being made here is that there is no evidence that a declassification process was conducted, which by the way to serve your ignorance, is required to declassify documents and information, was conducted prior to release of information. There is a process that can take various paths depending on who the declassifying requestor is and the nature of the information.
So take your mindless criticism and name calling somewhere else. The question I asked was a fair question -- which Bush Bots do not want to hear an answer to. And the LAST thing I am is a Dem troll -- just someone looking for a fair answer to fair question.

Yep. All thru 2004 he was a complete DNC mouthpiece. Then pretty much vanished after Nov 2004. Must be a Election Year, all Howie Dean's "Virtual Campaigners" are ozzing back out of the gutter again.

You can't respond to every FAKE utterance of these morons only to be buttressed by a FAKE POLL.
I am not reacting to the FAKE NEWS or the FAKE POLLS every time it happens. It is non-stop and easily exposed.
BUSH WINS! That's real. All the FAKE NEWS and FAKE POLLS could not stop that.
Now I am speaking generally and not directly toward you.
1) Conservatives should avoid being the puppets of the fakery by the MSM.
2) My message to all Conservatives. Do not be a tool of the left by falling for FAKE NEWS or FAKE POLLS.

Bush will not fight back. I am beginning to lose faith in Bush. He is a door mat. Plus, he called Fitzgerald "dignified". I don't think he'll change his PR strategy until he wakes up the day after election with a Democratic Congress.
The thing is, Americans hate the press. He wouldn't have much of a fight to show the Americans that the US media has been Kosified, juvenile, partisan, nasty.
On CNN they were giggling in glee over Bush's poll numbers and latest problems on the "leak". If Bush were tougher, he'd relish wiping that grin off their collective elitist face.
To: Carling
Bush is getting bad advice, he should have admitted his culpability / responsibility in this at the on set. How much has this cost us tax payers so far?
To: RedBloodedAmerican
" Bush and buddies " Why does this phrase which was made popular at DU keep appearing on FR these days? Because DUers hang out here and post all the time trying to start dissent?

And the LAST thing I am is a Dem troll Upon reviewing your posting history, I simply do not believe you.
What's more, you're dumb. How many times do you have to be told that the President can declassify any document he chooses whenever he chooses just by releasing the document?
There is no "declassification process" when the President chooses to declassify. It just happens.

Fitzgerald is an opportunist clear and simple. If this so-called CIA agent was compromised, lets have an indictment. Trapping someone by clever interrogation by the FBI is a joke.

Even worse is filing court briefs with language that allows for partisan games to be played.
