FYI
I've got a bad feeling that someday in the near future we are going to be asking why we didn't go looking for Saddam's WMD instead of sitting around cheering on the DNC's Brokeback Mountaineers as they told us that "Bush lied." Hopefully, there won't be too many Americans glowing in the dark or doing the funky chicken while rolling around on the ground.
Now that the SNAFU has been exposed, they could at least try and make sure that the birds haven't flown the coop. Good grief.
Bump for later read...thanks
Not actually a doc ping, but related and important nontheless.
ISG members further told us that WMD searches were being concentrated in northern Iraq, and not southern Iraq.
SNIP
During my intelligence gathering the Iraqis had told us that Saddam concentrated on hiding the WMDs in the southern region because the history of prior UN Weapons Inspections had always concentrated in searches of northern faculties. Searches in southern Iraq had primarily been helicopter flyovers. I have respect for every U.S. member of ISG who served in Iraq, but as an organization, the management was poor.
Limbaugh would blow the doors off if he took up the issue...as the White House is glued to his every word. As for columnists, George Will is widely read, but is considered kind of a tired old lion. Robert Novak, though, still has some major-league pull...especially with Rumsfeld [ who likely hasn't even heard of this...the guy is too busy for his own good! ]
Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin would definitely get some buzz going.
Bureaucracies never change, but some are way more dangerous than others.
It's unbelievable that our intelligence services were operating at the same efficiency level as the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Let's just do the right thing and let the chips fall where they may. If the evidence confirms his suspected sites as either "hot" or even "recently hot" WMD locations...then a post-mortem can be done trying to sort blame. Most likely political rats STILL in the system such as Joe Wilson and Valerie Pflame.
But if the WMDs are still there, we better not let these elude capture and recovery.
When the concern about "embarassment" (a political concern) gets in the way of getting the job done...we seem to get all sorts of hopelessly destructive things occurring...such as the continued cover-up of Able Danger, letting Sandy Hamburglar off with a slap on the wrist...etc.
Time to be large and take charge.
But I thought the WHOLE COUNTRY had been searched and there were NO WMD found! /sarc
WHY isn't this man being interviewed on every single media outlet? Is this NOT significant? I am really starting to get teed off on certain conservative mouthpieces, because the only thing they have been talking about, at the expense of all these important finds, is illegal immigration. Yes, it is a very important issue, but EVERY DAY for 3 hours on the radio?
This should be HEADLINE news for pete's sake--at the very least in conservative circles. **banging head against wall**
It's not MY concern at all. I want to see this story blared from the rooftops. I was just worried that it might be Rush's concern, and that that would prevent him from running with it. But absolutely, if he can be enlisted to do it, that would be great.
Thanks for the ping.
If this is all true which there's no reason to believe it isn't, It leaves an awful lot of questions as to what the heck a lot of people were doing back then in stopping this info from reaching the top.
Gaubatz: The most accurate intelligence is what is initially obtained by ground intelligence officers. The intelligence myself and other Agents obtained on the ground never reached our President or Congress. The intelligence they eventually received was so diluted and politically scrubbed, that it was often far from the original intelligence we received.
And why is the intelligence the TOP officials receive virtually UNRECOGNIZABLE from the original intelligence?? How can it already be "politically scrubbed"?
I think my head is about to explode.
Bio-Chemical Weapons & Saddam: A History.

if you looked at someone and said this on the subway I daresay you'd have to defend yourself.
Initially Saudi officers advised Saddam Hussein would not use WMD during the war, but as the days got closer the Saudi officers were wearing chemical protective equipment as we were. You could see the look of defeat in the Saudis eyes. All along they had been saying Saddam would not use WMD, but in their heart they knew he had the capability and would do so if he had the opportunity.
Thanks for the ping; I wish the admin. would make this argument.
