He's not running for re-election.

This is the real GWB.

Wow, so if I rob a bank and hide out for 5 years does that mean I can get off free?

This is the real GWB.

Unfortunately those of us in Texas should have seen this coming and maybe got the word out. He was buddy buddy with a lot of big-time campaign contributers, many of whom used illegal labor. It all fed right into his buddying up with Mexico during his time as Govenor (I don't expect a hostile relationship with a neighboring soverign nation, but I don't expect us to pick up the tab for their social/economic problems and refugees either).

Correct. Now we know how he was able to buy the first nomination run in 2000.

Promises, promises, promises....in the right ears.

The divide between Wall Street and Main Street has never been greater. And it will only continue to grow. If Hitlery had a brain she would simply commence a knife-fight against the illegal alien lobby...and laugh all the way to the Electoral College in '08. Any time a RINO such as McCain and Specter or fellow Rat such as Kennedy brayed about "immigration" she would be able to go straight to the high ground...and point to the immigrants here legally. And talk rule of law. The GOP would splinter. Even if she couldn't get anyone to forget how reprehensible and malicious she is to get defections from the GOP...the Base would go home, the positive results from her standpoint would be that no RINO in the GOP could again pose a risk to the RAT candidate....which will be her.

The fact is, the President and Rove have to know this is a likely outcome. And they are apparently okay with it coming to pass. This is in effect, a knowing betrayal of not just the Conservative Base, but as Hugh Hewitt has said, the WOT itself. Because letting the RATS into power ends it. Immediately.

Apparently we are finding out which is really more important to this President.

The illegal alien fanaticism, 'compassionate conservatism' that lurked underneath the President's rhetoric was not that hard to discern...and appears to be far, far more important to him than retaining a governing majority...and the WOT.

Exactly.

He has noting to loose.

But the Republican Congress does.

On the other hand, if the Dems take over Congress in 2006, he will face a sure bill of impeachment.

The idea that this is some sort of the-mask-is-off revelation of a politician who's no longer accountable to the voters is pure bunk.

It's the same man who ran for president in 2000 and 2004 stating the exact same views. It's what he believed as governor of Texas, it's what he believed in winning two national elections.

Whether you love his position or hate it, Bush's position on illegal immigration should come as no surprise to anyone other than the ignorant. Bush is simply keeping his campaign promises.

The RINOcrats are a self-inflicted wound. They blew both feet off long ago in my opinion. That is why I refused to renew my membership in the RINOcrat party and will not give them a dime till they get their collective heads out of their butts.

Actually, as much as I hate this Amnesty deal and have fought against it I must also acknowledge that Bush did run on the guestworker program. It was and has been part of his platform in 2000 and 2004. No surprises. I voted for Bush for 99% of the other issues knowing that we could take this amnesty fight to the Congress.
