there will be intelligent, honest people who get voted in

That will take an honest, intelligent electorate. We may be doomed.

Yes, of course. At least, in the meanwhile, some states are wraggling out their own enforcement provisions.

I'm always honest. While I don't particularly "like" the status quo, it is preferable to HR 4437.

Rather than allow them to portray that they are doing their jobs I would much rather prefer to see them do their job and have concrete voting records by which to judge them.

When they cast a vote they are on the record....a record from which they cannot hide.

We need to stop allowing them to hide and hold them accountable.

That is exactly how they avoid being on the record with their votes. This madness has got to stop!

NOW it is critical to contact the LOCAL OFFICE of your senator.

I have tried several times to contact Senator Cornyn's (Tx) office in DC with no luck. Called his local office and asked that my thanks be passed on to him for this strong position on this matter. His office sounded really pleased to hear that. It is important to contact your representatives not only when they screw up but also when they are in the right...gives them strength.

P.S. Some on your side of the debate are saying no bill is better than this bill too - you are not attacking them, I will note.

Not securing our borders is preferable to securing them?

You are a real piece of work Clawrence.

I think if you read I have stated my disagreement with that action too. I have also stated why I disagree.

Same as I do with you.

Rephrase - no bill is BETTER than a disasterous bill!

This is all smoke and mirrors. Even if a bill is passed it will be meaningless and no one will try to enforce it.

The bill should be very short and sweet: Illegals out NOW.

Inaction allows the impression that they didn't cause the problem and gives them an out. I would rather have a disastrous bill to hold in their face with their vote and say " SEE IT IS YOUR FAULT".

Lets stop allowing them the out. Lets demand they hold up or down votes and then hold them accountable. The bills will shape up quickly when they have to vote one way or the other.

" ... Apparently, all 3 versions of the immigration bills are in suspense now -- until after the Spring Recess."

We must face it. Like S/S, illegal immigration will tossed into the closet, to hopefully be forgotten by "we the people".

These Congressional cowards will do nothing until they are faced with thousands of citizens in the streets with pitchforks and sythes.

When that occurs we'd best have a few gullitines at the ready.

I couldn't agree more. One thing I find helpful is to include my voter registration information so that they can see that not only am I registered, but I VOTE.
