Wasn't one of those amendments a provision to keep illegals who are felons from being granted amnesty? So Dems wanted illegals who've committed felonies to be able to become citizens and vote?

The Republicans are hanging tight on not permitting cloture because of attempts to restrict the number of amendments on these bills.

This is a good thing, folks. Sen. Kyl indicated that the whole issue is going back to committee and will be ironed out their before it comes back in about a months or so.

The process is working. Perservere.

We will need a FoxNews Alert as Senators will scurry for the nearest microphones and tv cameras after this vote.

Warning: Move all children and elderly in walkers to safety IMMEDIATELY.

Hurry! Hurry along now, children!

Earlier cloture vote to cut off debate on Hagel/Martinez amendment failed, 38 to 50-some.

Hagel and Martinez voted NO.

Current vote (in progress) is on Frist's version of the border security S2454.

No. I want them to hear from their constituents, put this thing back before the Judiciary Committee and get a better bill to vote on in the future. Remember that when it does come up it will be that much closer to the election. I get a feeling that everything is going to be okay in the end.

Graham speaking about how the Senate process is broken (Gee; what was his first clue??)

Follow Willy's advice,"Just kill all the lawyers".

They will get an earful regardless .. and even more so if they pass a stupid bill

I was about to say the same thing myself. If all they can come up with is an amnesty program and a repeat of 1986...it is best to go home now. And after the November elections, the new faces can try again.

Hopefully a metric ton of email landed in Frist's inbox. Hopefully he realizes how many people think he's a flaming idiot.

I predicted this would happen. No bill will come out of the Senate on this prior to the election this fall.

The issue, as put forth, is a total loser. Anything out of the Senate that is amnesty oriented will never be reconciled with the House.

I am going to work to help unseat this fall any politician who wants amnesty.

They first need to make the border security stronger ... then they can deal with the rest of the mess

the problem is .. majority don't trust the government to enforce the laws that are already on the books

They have a history and need to earn the trust of the people first

I informed Fritz that if a jackass knows oats from sandspurs, we can distinguish AMNESTY from justice.

I wish I could say I felt that everything was going to be OK.

There is no reason to delay anything. Lets have a vote up or down and end the stalling. The only way we have to judge encumbants is the record of their votes. When they avoid voting up or down it creates room for spin when on the campaign trial.

I'm watching this for the first time in a while. I don't remember seeing this much BSing, back-slapping and ass-pinching the last time I tuned them in. Did they dress up because they are going somewhere?

I think in the end NOTHING will come of all this.

The House won't "compromise" (give in), and there won't be a final bill.

I believe the entire PURPOSE of the Senate is for cooler minds than the People's House to prevail ; )
