I think everyone should either meet up with our Spring Break Congress members or mail in photos and evidence of what we see everyday: our neighborhoods becoming barrios.
Let them know we are not amused with their treatment of an important national security issue, nor will we let our representatives diminish our concerns over criminal conduct by relegating it into political rhetoric.
The old hackneyed political rhetoric (racist, bigot, homophobic, ad nauseum) are hollow in a post 9/11 world where terrorism exists.
To: Bikers4Bush
LOL - I'd rather spend $80 billion catching 1000 terrorists than 1.
To: Reagan Man
My main problem with the word "assist" re: illegal aliens.
To: clawrence3
Would you spend that much to catch one coming across the border with a dirty bomb that could kill hundreds and irradiate an entire portion of a major city?

This isn't a game. Stop trying to be cute and debate the issue. If you're not going to engage, please don't reply to my posts in the future. Now....
Whats wrong with HR 4437?

The "concession" that our border is 5% secure at least in the areas that the terrain makes it extremely difficult to cross ; )

I thought I just answered that.

Then we should do it shouldn't we?

No. If you think an Israel-type wall will prevent every terrorist from entering the country (the 9/11 attackers entered LEGALLY), you are mistaken.

>>>>My main problem with the word "assist" re: illegal aliens.I just your response. Don't understand what that means. You'll have to revise and extend your remarks. Thanks. So, stop acting like a smartaleck. Give an answer that is expected of an intelligent FReeper.

For starters I never said how the money should be spent, I just asked shouldn't we if it means catching that one guy.
Second, if a wall of that kind would stop even one terrorist with a dirty bomb from entering it'd be worth ten times what it would cost. If you think I'm exaggerating think about how much 9/11 cost this country in lives, property and commerce.
At present they aren't doing 1/10,000th of what they could do to make us more secure. In my opinion that's criminal.

I think I (and Cardinal Mahony) have adequately set forth our disagreements with the proposed House additions to existing law (making the current civil offense of being in the country a felony and potentially criminalizing charity work were my main 2 concerns).
To: clawrence3
The Israeli wall has reduced suicide bombings by 97% and deaths caused by those terrorist attacks have been reduced by 99%. No wall or fence will work 100% of the time. But a barrier along the entire US-Mexico border will reduce border crossings significantly. I'd say in the 90%-95% range.

And I'd rather use those resourses to reduce terrorist attacks specifically, as opposed to all border crossings. It's called PRIORITIES.

To: clawrence3
Is there a limit to what you would spend to stop terrorist attacks?

There is only one way to legally "assist" an illegal alien. That is to TURN THEM IN!
