Maybe a solution to all the positioning by the career politicians in DC is to classify all illegals as felons, no matter what we do with them, thus, taking away their right to vote..
If this isn't a potential voting base, I wonder how attitudes in DC would change?

They also COST for health care, education, and other benefits. EX. Schools get about 2-3K more for each "Hispanic" student

Everything is about politics and power with these guys. What the bleep ever happened to doing what's right for the country or one's district? I mean what's right, not what's going to buy them stinking votes for their next election. And I'm really sick of the democrats culture of hate. Are they ever going to have a productive cogent idea or is it just going to be "whatever it is we're against it?" ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!
It is very complex. But the benefits you cite are like (in its extreme) the benefits other law breakers do for our economy. Two wrongs don't make a right.
I think the over-population aspect is the most concerning. Call me a nativist if you will (and Tony can attest to this) here in DC the housing prices have escalated so extremely I can only attribute it to over-population.
They still COUNT!! Felons COUNT in their "home" state. Congressional districts are drawn by total POPULATION. Not by citizens. Every man, woman, and child COUNT!!!!
Agree with dfwgator: The only solution is to go to employers and make them clearly understand -- penalties for employment of illegals are drastic, for their business and them personally.
A biometric card would help. I know that if someone shows me a passport or the I-9 approved IDs, I've got to believe them. We need to have one that is not easily purchased for a few dollars.
But are the higher housing prices based on an increased demand for low income housing or is this demand increasing in the middle and upper class neighborhoods?

Why do they necessarily have to vote? All they have to do is BE there. What would happen if CA would lose electoral votes, and they would go to a really red state???
Tony - thanks for having Tammy on. As you probably know, she does a home improvement show on KVI 570 Radio (Fox Channel) on Saturdays. She was on Brian Suits show last night and was very good. As Brian mentioned, she and her husband have been offered $$$$$s from all sorts for this videotape and have refused to take any money or let it be released - except to the FBI and Moussaui's prosecutors. IIRC her husband was injured on 9/11.
Like any of that is gonna happen. These guys will never vote for anything that will take away their power and their ability to go to Washington as a middle class peron and leave congress many years later as a millionaire.
Aren't they counted in census now? If memory serves me correctly, I've never had to show an ID during a census.
